Has anybody been able to make sense of Numa Numa?

It's delightful to listen to - humorous and fun - but hard to understand.

But I'd hate to find out that it's actually something I wouldn't want my grandkids to hear.

The lyrics are in Romanian -- it's a pop song, in which the boy begs the girl not to dump him.

    Code:
    Alo. Salut. Hello, greetings,
Sunt eu, un haiduc. It's me, a fugitive.
,Si te rog, iubirea mea, I beg you, my love
    primeste fericea. to accept happiness.

    Alo, alo, Hello, hello,
Sunt eu, Picasso, It's me, Picasso,
Ti am dat beep, I called your cell,
(literally "I gave you a beep")
,si sunt voinic, and I'm lusty,
    dar sa ,stii but understand
nu ti cer nimic I make no demands of you.

Vrei sa pleci You want to leave
dar nu ma, nu ma iei, but don't want to take me with you,
    nu ma, nu ma iei,
    nu ma, nu ma iei,
    Chipul tau Your face
,si dragostea din tei and love from the trees
mi-amintesc de ochii tei. remind me of your eyes.

Ralexx could probably correct this -- I'm not 100% sure about a few of the words.

 I hadn't heard it yet. Who sings it?

Pecker - at first I thought you were referring to the muppet song:

    Mahna mahna
    (ba dee bedebe)
    mahna mahna
    (ba debe dee)
    mahna mahna
(ba dee bedebe badebe badebe dee dee de-de de-de-de)

    (repeats)

mah mama na mahna mah namwomp mwomp
    ma mo mo mana mo
    mahna mahna
    (ba dee bedebe)
    mahna mahna
    (ba debe dee)
    Mahna Mahna!
(ba dee bedebe bedebe badebe debe de-de de-de-de)

    (long pause)

    ...mahna mahna?

 I think you mean this
song. It's an animation to the Muppets version - be sure to stick around for the credits.

Yup, that's the one. That song alone cracks me up, but it's even funnier with the skit.

I was in a somewhat grumbly mood this morning, and after hearing the song, I felt better.

The song is called Dragosta din tei, it's been huge across europe for a while now, especially in ireland.

I think the band are called O-zone.

Actually there was two groups arguing for having sung "Dragostea Din Tei".
O-Zone, which is now splitted (as most boys bands do...lol) whose leader was Dan Balan, was actually the Romanian group who wrote the song.

The group Haiducci singed also that song.

I have the Haiducci version in *.mp3 (5,1 megs) and *.wma (3,4 megs) and also the video clip of O-Zone in *.avi (38 megs).

PM me or email me if you want one of those, or both.
