Wailing and crying over the only leader that there is, is to be expected. At least in the minds of most North Koreans. There are no churches, monasteries, or temples but the portrait of "Dear Leader" is everywhere, so he becomes in effect a god. Stalin used it to great affect as well. Every superlative that you could convey upon someone was bestowed on him. Great leader of agriculture, futurist in manufacturing, protector of the people, etc. I do have to wonder though how many of those weeping were government workers, paid or told to be there etc. If there voluntarily they were brainwashed by the system or possibly fearing for their own livelihoods and possible purges.
At the mausoleum of Kim Il-Sung (his father and first ruler of the country) there is actually a tour guide that tells the story of his life. If EVERYONE in the group doesn't cry over how sad, tragic, and ultimately heroic the story is told I'm pretty sure the woman gets sent to the gulags.
Reunification of the North and South could cost from $100B to $1.7Trillion if there were to be parity between the North (per capita GDP $700) vs South (per capita GDP $20,000).
