I am a 20 year old male and I thought people would like to hear about being nude in locker rooms from a younger person. Personally I normally cover up and change my underwear in a towel and I think most people my age would agree. I’ve been through high school pe lessons and we never got fully nude or showered at all and if people would shower they would wear underwear or swimming shorts due to there being stereotypes of being ‘gay’ if you are naked or see another persons dick (which I totally disagree on). I think this has a big impact because I go swimming regularly and have to change in the locker rooms with other men and I find that older men walk around nude and shower nude as I’ve heard that when they were younger it was normal to shower nude infrint of your class mates, but younger people my age tend not to do this. I’ve been swimming regularly for a couple months now and when I first started I would completely cover up and make sure no one else would see my dick but now I’ve been going for a while and I’ve been not as secretive and have been showing off my dick and ass more because I feel more comfortable. I still would cover up if anyone around me is my age as it’s a bit awkward to see each other naked but if there’s older people that are also naked I am usually naked as well. I hope this helped people understand a younger person’s experience of being nude in high school and in the locker rooms. And I hope this made sense as well.

I’m trying to change it at my gym, but it’s tough since we only have 5 curtained showers. Almost no young guys shower. Sometimes it can be weird when guys your age don’t, and you’re standing at your locker exposed after putting your towel down. But based off other stories, sometimes it just takes one to break the ice for everyone else to suddenly follow.

Go to an extreme and see if anyone your age matches you - be the young guy holding the towel at your side walking to and from the shower, not in a hurry to get changed once you’re at your locker.

My Y has the old time single post with multiple shower heads around the top. It is common practice for everyone to be nude in the wet area (shower, hot tub, steam room).

You've got the generations wrong. It Gen-Y & Gen-Z (millennials and socials). Gen-X is from 1965-1984.

Their "generations" have mostly all turned out to be the "New Prudes", of the USA, so, I don't bother to try to distinguish between them.

I was washing up in our local Y after swimming and this cute Chinese guy that I've been glancing at for the last 2 hours (in the pool) went in to the showers to wash up. I was with my cousin at the time who just got out of the shower room. When I was about to go outside, I caught the guy staring at me - I stared back at him but decided to head out.

It's funny at my YMCA, I actually consider our gang shower and locker room ease to be a motivating reference point for my level of fitness. Almost like I have accountability to my fellow 50+ crowd. There are two YMCAs and the older one is an older swimming crowd primarily and it has the gang shower. My weight ebbs and flows +/- 10 lbs and when I am on my down cycle I occasionally get my buddy saying hey bud, don't leave us in the dust, you look great, how much have you lost? You could see many of us cycling through a lot of weight gained during covid when people were doing nothing but staying home and drinking and eating and now we are all on a good path coming out of this thing. It's quite a brotherhood. I think we all know each other's bodies even better than our wives even do at this point in our lives. There's a couple of guys that drop their suits and are fairly well hung but most are just shmedium and average.

My best gym buddy who is exactly my age has been working out in the mornings for about 3 years. He is very small and used to shower quickly and face the wall the whole time. Now he faces center and we will talk soaping up and scrubbing our respective holes and he is not phased by it any more. So I have one convert to report!

Another guy who swims everyday, close to 70 maybe, looks like tweety bird and he is very well hung. We now like to soap up at the same time and discuss life. One day walking out to the parking lot, I told him that I can't get any friends to sign up as they are scared of the gang shower and I said maybe it's easy for us because we are well hung....he must have turned ten shades of red but he agreed with a laugh and now we are best of buddies.

In fact my old Y that I reference above is so old school and 50+ something, that there isn't a trimmed pube in sight. Personal grooming? Not a chance, in fact on some guys, it's a little difficult to see the tree through the forest. So my shaved balls have caused a number of double takes. In fact, twice now, I have been asked why I shave my balls. The last time the guy was in his late seventies and seemed irritated. Why the hell do you shave your balls? I told him because my wife likes it that way (the truth), do I need to say anything else? Two other guys in the shower almost fell over laughing and high fived me later.

Someone needs to do a reality check. In a room(locker) where you are supposed to take your clothes off you really shouldn't or cover up the naughty parts quickly so the prudes filled with anxiety aren't offended and run to management to tell?

No, I just have an issue with guys afraid to change in front of other guys. It's a cultural thing. I grew up in the days of nude YMCA swimming and mandatory showers after PE and sports.

I tend to agree that for whatever reason some guys are totally fine sending dick pics to girlfriends, boyfriends, or even just friends and random internet or social media strangers, but can't stand the thought of being naked in a locker room.

I suppose it's not different than the person who is a social media warrior with comments about whatever and they type and post things they would never say to a person face to face, but it is kind of funny how that works out.

The gym I belong to has a decent locker room with full blown stalls and head to toe curtains so I never go in there save a couple of times. It's a pretty suburban dad type place with largely straight laced population on the floor so I doubt there is much exposure going on.

Stalls are bad enough. Stalls which curtains make me feel very claustrophobic. Even in my home I pulled out the small shower stall and installed a larger one, about 2x the size. It has clear glass doors and with the bathroom door open (which it is - no reason to close it) I can see out the bedroom windows. It's very nice.
