You people... SHE MADE A GODDAMN TOUCHDOWN AND DID A FUCKING END ZONE DANCE BECAUSE SHE FELT GOOD!!!!! What is so fucking hard to understand about that?

I understand it perfectly. What's so fucking hard to tolerate about it is that she is supposed to be a competent servant of the people, not some overpaid athlete with the IQ of a turnip. Her arrogance is unbecoming, and it says a lot about her temperament.

What works in the NFL doesn't carry to the halls of Congress. She should do her end-zone dance in private and in public act with gratitude for the trust that's been placed in her. What's so fucking hard to understand about that?

The title of this thread is telling.

I don't care for her all that much but I'm wondering where are the self-appointed moralizers from the right chiding us that nothing will ever be gained by name-calling.

I dunno. I'm on her team, but I cringe at her embarrassing behavior. That's the point I'm trying to make. Many have missed that.

My mama says, "ass is as ass does."

Maybe "ladies" are supposed to act with more dignity, right? I resent the hell out of that. None of these briliiant points would be being made if she was a man. Of course, she wouldn't need to assert herself if she were a man, so I guess that's a moot point.

Get over yourselves guys, women aren't going to just look cute and bake you brownies forever. If you have to eat a little shit, imagine what it's been like to be ME my whole life, and not like the taste of shit.:soapbox:

It's very interesting how you can insult Muslims by labeling them all "religious loudmouths", while at the same time espousing a misogynistic and classist view of intellectuals.

So, basically what you're saying is... Franklin would never have imagined that a bunch of pansy pussy elitists would bow down before the ideas of heathens.

How very enlightened you are.

I didn't mean any of this misogyonistically. Effeminacy was only meant as a metaphor for a political and social lack of balls as contrasted with a positive "ballsy" trait tradionally associated with masculiness. Such moral frailty is exhibited by men as often as women IMO.

In fact my feelings on this subject were best articulated by a lady writer who used pretty much the same metaphor to describe intelligencia(sp) operating without reason; Oriana Fallaci.

Benjamin Franklin was often criticized as as the overly pragmatic and middle class founding father. His distrust of of ivory-tower intellectualism over practical wisdom is the same as my own.

The insult at the end is non-sequitor reducto ad hominum.

Hey, overpaid athletes with IQ's of a turnip are people too ya know! And some of them are probably well hung. I can say that here, can't I? Good analogy though to sports vs halls of Cong. I agree with your post.

Where does she get off with this "most powerful woman in America" bullshit?

??? Are you talking about the mock-swearing in ceremony that was a joke? I think that only the Washington Times twisted this around to make it sound like she was serious. But don't they have a history of creating these fake images of "liberals" to get people all up in arms? You can bet your booty that no politician who ever thought like that would actually get very far. It is actually hard for me to imagine that she (or actually almost any woman) would actually be that stupid. I may be wrong, but I just can't imagine it.

The more important thing for me with those idiots at the Washington Times is that I don't think people who claim to be religious or patriotic, while playing all these games with reality, should really be considered religious or patriotic at all. If something's not real, it has no value, and therefore can't be held sacred, no matter what your "beliefs" about it are. The reality check is in fact the most important starting point if you're serious about religion or patriotism. Not all this hoopla & cheerleading.

This is the big joke in America, that people don't realize something has to be real before it can be held sacred. This means that you should first find out whether some image is actually oriented toward reality and based on reality and a pretty fair representation of reality before you go crazy.

To do that, I think all of us have to do the same thing, which is to start by finding groups of level headed, objective people with common sense who know more about a subject than you do, and see what they say. Usually I have to also read something objective and in depth, something more than just a rant or email--but a real, long drawn out reflection or discussion. Maybe by a few experts. Then I have to think about it over time and let it settle in, and ask other people I know with common sense what they think. If I don't make a habit of doing that, I don't see how I could tell when I was actually being hysterical myself, or making mountains out of molehills, or getting all worked up about something that wasn't even real.

Who said 'ladies" were supposed to behave in a certain way? I didn't. I was more embarrassed by Howard Dean's behavior than I was by Pelosi's and said so at the time.

This has nothing to do with gender. Her behavior was beneath the dignity of a person who's been charged with such responsibilities.

I resent the hell out of being told what I would have done given different circumstances. You haven't the right to do that for or to me or anybody else, Jana.

I don't eat or otherwise accept shit from anyone.

Get the misanthropic chip off your shoulder.

I laughed like a MF when I read about the overpaid athlete with the IQ of a turnip... yeah, gratitude seems to be lacking these days... the dems are kind of socially autistic... I know, I'm one of em'... Isn't Gratitiude an EWF album? Now if we could only all just get along and rock out to "Can't Hide Love", we'd be alright!!!!!!!

Is there anything hotter than a strong woman? Uncut, you are a trip... I LOVE YOUR TASTE IN WOMEN!!!! We are always on the same page!!!! The speaker of the House is next in line to the presidency after Dick Chaney, she wields a whole lot of potential power. What I am concerned about is that people are just maybe repeating a lot of rhetoric that they have heard in the so called "liberal media". there is not a lot of substance to the debate about Nancy Pelosi... just a lot of emotion and reactionary responses. That's not meant at Hicknoy, because he is well informed, this debate is actually occuring on a much wider scale in the media as we type. Just like Barack Obama... a lot about who he is... hardly anything about what he stands for, it's this fucking soundbite world we live in. Nobody can explain themselves in a three sentence blurb, so why bother saying anything at all.

Try googling this line of text:

pelosi "most powerful woman in america"

The pictures and the text are there.
Having done this, it appears the only source for this story is the Washington Times. All other stories are only citing them. I am pretty skeptical of anything coming out of that source.

Not good enough -- what you're asking me to do is document your slander for myself. You made the accusation, it's your responsibility to provide a source.

Nonetheless, here are the first five Google results:

  1. The National Ledger: Claims that she said this "according to a report from the Washington Times", but does not provide any original documentation. The Washington Times, incidentally, is Sun Myung Moon's flagship publication, and is hardly a credible publication -- more on this after the list.
  2. A blog called Atlas Shrugs: Also links to the Washington Times article.
  3. A blog called Uncle Tim's Bargain Basement: Also links to the Washington Times article.
  4. A blog called The Ward View: Also links to the Washington Times article.
  5. A post on Craiglist without any attribution whatsoever.
It speaks real bad of your credibility when three of the top five links are blogs, and none of them cite any source other than the Washington Times, which has previously been caught in other misrepresentations (1: "How the conservative Washington Times helped create a myth about the teachers' union ...") (2: Misquoting Al Gore's Internet statement) (3: their "journalistic ethics were close to nil").

I asked you for a source, and you told me to get one, so here are five. I claim that you are mistaken, that you've repeated bogus information as if it were true, and that your claim has not been correlated by any reputable media source.

There is no proof that she actually called herself "the most powerful woman in America".
