I guess the latest news that a Virginia Judge decided that Natlonal Healthcare is unconstitutional has not yet been discussed,,,so let the fun
begin...what do you think will happen...will this make it to the Supreme
Court..and what do you think they will decide?

There is currently a situation known as a "split in the circuits" where the federal circuit courts in different regions have decided differently on the same law. The 4th circuit has ruled the mandate unconstitutional, while several other circuits have upheld the mandate. The supreme court dislikes a split so they will likely take up the case to settle it.

As to their decision. I have no idea, but my gut tells me they will wait until they see what the congress does in terms of funding the program. If the Supreme Court can wait until the Republicans in congress do whatever they're going to do about the health care law, they can let the congress take the heat for making the guaranteed-to-be-controversial decision, effectively weaseling out of it and not forcing the court to take a stance.

how will they pay the 750.00 fine for not having health care

my brother lost this job and now rents a cab and has no health care, he will have no money to live on if he buys health care.
He can file for an exemption under the health care legislation. I'm not sure what exactly the requirements are, but you can file to be exempt from the mandate for reasons of financial hardship.

If this is the same brother who has HIV, then he's qualified for Ryan White/ADAP (unless he's in a state with an enormous waiting list like FL, in which case he's screwed). If it's a different brother, then he's the best argument for The Public Option I can think of, but being conservative, you'd probably consider that Socialism.

Universal healthcare only works when it's universal, and all costs are shared evenly by everybody. As it stands right now, your cab-driving brother must be using ERs for his healthcare, which costs everybody more money. You DO understand that, right?

Oh don't get me started. I think the whole problem began when the Federal goverment leaned on the banks to extend home loans to those
who weren't credit worthy. That turned out to be a disaster.

That is so incredibily wrong. You should read a book on the collapse. There are many out there. Not one blames the government for anything except the cheap money that Allen Greenspan made available and the other fereral agencies that failed to regulate the banks.

In fact expect more disasters thanks to those plutocrat Republicans:

Regulators exist to ‘serve the banks,’ next House finance chairman declares

Running the country over the cliff once simply wasn't enough. Be afraid. Very afraid.

He needs a better lawyer. Contact an ASO (AIDS Service Organization) in his area and ask about pro-bono legal aid. He should not be in jail.
