Shaving is necessary if you care about oral sex, the hair that gets caught in your teeth is distracting at best. I personally shave my balls and shaft every time I shower.

I trim my pubes but have rarely ever shaved them off completely although I recall the time they were shaved for me by a very sexy male nurse in prep for the removal of my appendix. I do prefer to keep things trimmed down, as you'll see from my pics, I'm very hairy in the pube area, they go a long way up. Problem is that when I trim or shave I always go and mess it up and leave myself scratching for the next few days!! Doh!

Last week, I tried something different. I spent 20 mins and pulled all the pubes from my balls and shaft.
It went really well with only minor discomfort. It's been a week now and no itching.
I have noticed my balls stick a bit more than before, but I like the look and feel.
This way doesn't leave a direct line where the razor starts, so it looks natural.

Beard trimmers with the adjustable guard are your friend. They're cheap at any drugstore.

I'm uncut, so my foreskin used to pull hair. Ouch! I've kept my scrotum (and all the way forward onto the underside of my penis) shaved for many years. I shave it at every shower, so there's never any grow-back itching. I've shaved all my pubes several times, and I once kept them shaved for about two months, but I'd rather have a little hair. I usually keep it trimmed pretty short, and I occasionally pluck the hairs on my shaft. Right now, in preparation for an annual physical exam, I've been letting it all (except for the scrotum) grow for about a month. I look forward to a close trim right after the exam, and I might even shave everything just for variety.

I shave my balls and the area between my legs. Above my dick can get itchy if I shave it, but I've found that trimming it with a set of hair clippers, so it's nothing more than light stubble keeps that from happening.

Personally, I have sensitive balls, so I get much more pleasure when they are shaved. The trimming above my dick has the added benefit of removing 1/2 to 1" of hair, so when I look down, my dick looks bigger

I agree that the smoothness feels nice and I've tried the completely shaven style before. Unfortunately, the rest of me is fairly hairy, so a smooth crotch looks really weird on me. The good news is that women seem to be impressed by ANY amount of grooming and trimming down there at all.

Like Doug, through high school, I never shaved any pubic hair. Then I had a gf who liked the crewcut look, so I cut everything really short...with scissors. This was before I knew about beard trimmers. Now, I just shave the shaft of my dick (got some pubic hair rolled up into a condom once too often -- ouch!), and let my bush and balls go, trimming them only about once ecery 6 months of so.
