(Out of curiosity, Mumzi, how do you imagine implantation is prevented... keeping in mind that ovulation can be prevented by MA, but that's not the usual mechanism...)
MA definitely have legitimate uses, but again, these are hormones - unbelievably potent biochemicals (effective dosages are in micrograms, not milligrams, so it's thousands of times more potent than most medications) whose usage should not be cavalier.
Well, just like BC would. Body is tricked into thinking it is pregnant.
The pill prevents ovulation by suppressing the hormones that would stimulate the ovary to release an egg. Progestin thickens the cervical mucus, hindering the movement of sperm. Progestin also prevents the uterus lining from developing normally, so if an egg were fertilized, implantation is unlikely.
But...progestin alone would inhibit the egg's ability to travel through the fallopian tubes & alter the cervical mucus to block sperm and partially suppress the sperms ability to unite with an egg & inhibit implantation.
Nausea, sure. It's also noted in pregnancy, and often a sign that the pregnancy is good due to the level of hormones.
