Hi all! I’ve been a fan of keeping my pubes nice and trimmed for years now because it just feels cleaner and nicer, and lets face it, it makes things look bigger. But recently have been going right down to the skin for a smooth finish and I fell in love with the feeling. I never realized how uncomfortable it was until I shaved it smooth. My workbench is at the same height as my pubic hair and leaning against my bench causes some itching with the hair. When it’s smooth it’s beauty!

If it’s too long I start with my hair trimmer and get the most of it. Then I get in the shower and use a razor and shave butter. I’m getting my technique down and love the immediate results but after a day or two I get red bumps (razor burn I assume) and a few of them sometimes turn in to little whitehead pimple things. Any ideas how to prevent the red bumps? I’ve tried an exfoliating scrub to help open the pores but haven’t noticed if it really helps. I usually treat the bumps with polysporin to help get rid of them. Then after a week of not shaving the bumps are damn near gone but then I’m overdue for shaving and then the cycle continues.

I’ll lost some pics.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Hoping to be smooth full time.

Well, one way to avoid razor burn is to shave with the grain, not against it. Admittedly, that will give you a slightly less than perfectly smooth appearance and feel, but no red bumps!

Ya I always start with those intentions but with all the nooks and crannies I end up getting carried away. I am trying to work on going with the grain, very light pressure, and not as many passes with the razor.

I have a similar product. It does help but I still get some redness and bumps but not as bad. I think I just need to use a little less pressure while shaving and try and remember to only go with the grain and see how that goes.

While the bumps are there I’m guessing it’s best to hold off on shaving?

I shave daily and don't get any bumps or razor burn. I've been using Aveeno shave gel for years and highly recommend it. Also, use a good quality razor and replace it every month or two depending on how often you use it. A dull razor will make for an uncomfortable shave. I prefer the Gillette Mach 3 disposable.

Ya I was using a razor and just using body wash before. Thought that may be the issue so I bought a new razor and blades and some shave butter.

Whatever happened to using good ole fashion shaving cream, warm water & soap? That's what I use. Shave cream first, followed by soap lather.

I always shave with the grain, and an second time against.
Afterwards use some alum to soothe the skin

I really appreciate all the feedback and help here guys. I’m liking the results of the tea tree oil already and I’m using most of your advice to see what works. Hope to have some nice smooth bump free pics in the next while. Just shaved this morning and it feels very smooth and so far less bumps but lets see what tomorrow brings.
