Today was a bit stressful. I had a regular checkup today with my Urologist.
That involved an Ultrasound of my Kidneys and bladder...During the Ultrasound. I noticed that the Tech was taking a lot pictures. Once she finished she told me to wait there in case they needed more pictures... Well that raised a red flag. Shortly after that she returned with another Tech. He proceeded to tell me that the first Tech was new and they needed to take a few pictures over.. She tried again, then he stepped in and was really pushing the wand into my left lower side. Where the bladder is located. They finished and took me to another room. My Doctor came and told me something showed up on my pictures. It difficult to see what it could be with just an Ultrasound. He wanted to do a Cystoscope on me right then. In a normal procedure like this you are given Valium... I could not take it because I was driving myself.... The procedure is done with a camera that is inserted through penis, passing though the prostate, then into the bladder. Pushing saline though as well.. It hurts... Luckily there were no tumors. I have a enlarged prostrate that was pushing against my bladder. Now I am on Flomax to see it will help shrink my prostate. A waiting my PSA results.... I was relieved and stressed at the same time. My blood pressure shot up to 165/ 78. Glad that day is over, here hoping the Flomax helps... Just wanted to share that guys.

I've had a Cystoscopy done twice, the most recent being just last week. Valium has never been mentioned. The nurse puts a numbing gel down into your penis, you wait a few minutes and the doctor comes in and inserts the scope. It is definitely uncomfortable...mentally and physically. But, if it's necessary, then its worth doing. And, in reality, it only takes a few minutes to do.

I wouldn’t worry at all about the BP. The lower figure is fine and that is what matters. Stress causes the higher figure to go up but by night time I imagine it would be closer to 120.

Hello, sorry you've had such a stressful day. The good news no tumors. Yay. Treatment can help.

You might consider getting you a good prostate massager or visiting someone who specializes in prostate massage. Your urologist should be able to recommend a professional that does that.

While many people associate prostate massage with sex. It can be very beneficial in relieving the symptoms associated with BPH enlarged prostate.

Check it out. Google it. If you decide that it's something you'd be willing to do. You'll only have to find you a good vibrating prostate massager.

Good luck to you. hope you'll have a better evening.

I had a cystoscopy several years ago. Valium wasn't offered. The procedure was pretty "uncomfortable", but after I peed out all the saline and sat to wait for the doctor to return, I had some major pain that lasted about 5 minutes that felt like an hour. All good after that, but I don't want to relive that experience..

I guess each doctor has a different way of doing things. Mine believe in the less discomfort the better. It might had been a different case had if it had it been scheduled procedure.

Yes, I am aware of the loss of libido and nipple sensitivity are the main 2 issues associated with Flomax. My doctor told me before I decided on I wanted to take it. Not worried about not being able to get erections. I have a penile implant, I can get erect anytime i want.... I will also look into more natural remedied as well.

Yay for no tumors! That sounded very stressful. Hard not to freak out when doc comes in and says those things.

You are totally correct @ThickPup ... it was not expected at all. Especially considering I was not there for a Cystoscope procedure. I'm glad my doctor does not pussy foot around an issue. He wants to battle it head on. No matter how it felt, I am thankful there were no tumors....:)

Mine too, but as I needed to drive, anything long-lasting was out of the question anyway. And I get goofy as fuck on some meds. Had laser periodontal surgery last year, they gave me Haldol to take an hour before. I did so, but apparently I seemed too alert when I arrived so they gave me a second pill. I don't remember any of the 1-1/2 hour procedure which included two wisdom tooth extractions!

And my wife said I was a goof on the ride home...started taking items out of the post-op goody bag in the car and tossing them, then found the mouthrinse, opened it and took a big swig of it. She said it was lucky she had a coffee mug, because I sat there looking around for a place to spit.....

No recollection of any of this.
