I've always hated the netting in swim trunks. It rubs my head and balls as I'm walking around during the day and leaves me irritated. I like the feeling of being free in swim trunks so I usually get board shorts or cut the netting out. If I'm at a more private beach I wear a pair of tighter fitting trunks, or sometimes nothing at all.

Board shorts are great, I agree; however, if you swimming in a pool, where speedo-style swimsuits are required, I would recommend cutting out the liner. If anyone stares, it is that person's problem, not yours. You are just abiding by the rules.

I thought the title of this was "Nutting in swim trunks!" Ha ha. Oh well, this is all good info too! (Ok, so yeah, I was slightly disappointed when I clicked and started reading....) I've been using a Speedo square cut with no netting/liner and like it.

They sit on your hips. They arent low cut...

Good, because that is what I want. Although my friends who are supposed to keep me from wasting too much money on clothes yelled at me for even thinking about purchasing a pair.

When I buy swim shorts to fit, the netting is tight. Looser netting means buying too big size shorts.

Cut the netting out. Then three options exist:

Go with out anything undernegth...at your risk

wear a jock..best option..comfort

underwear...too soggy

Being well hung, when I wear swim trunks, the netting is often constricting and uncomfortable. But it's not only my size that's the issue - the material (polyester?) is grating. Does anyone know of any trunks with bigger and/or more comfortable netting? Any other tips or suggestions are welcome. My preferred styles are true "swim trunks" and boardshorts.

Thanks!

I am 39 and remeber bathing suits with a silky material as a liner. I was surprised to find that they now have this mesh style. Uncomfortable on your dick and balls. In Europe in some pools they are making you switch to speedos as the long board shorts are causing a lot of water loss when guys get out. Like with shorts and underwear I am not a fan of the down to the knees look of wearing what looks like your older brothers hand me downs. How on earth did guys survive when things were very short?

I swim for exercise. I don't like jammers or square cuts because they are made for guys with slimmer thighs. If they fit my thighs then half my ass is hanging out by the time I finish my laps. They do work really well if you can wear them because they give great support and there's zero drag in the water. I have heard you can have them custom made if you have a bigger ass and thighs, but the cost is really high.

I can't find a speedo or speedo-like suit that doesn't make it look like I am trying to smuggle a grapefruit in my pouch. Attention is cool, but I have kids and that's not so cool for your daughter at the Y - lol. I have actually wore them for support under another suit and I can tell you for certain that if I owned a lap pool at home AND had to be concerned with wearing a suit of some kind, then the Speedo is the most comfortable suit for lap swimming that i have found.

So I buy shorts with no pockets made out of thin material and wear a Bike swimmer jock for lap swimming. Buy the extra large and have your girl/wife take in the waist that way you'll have plenty of room in the pouch but it wont slide down.

That way you cut out the liner of other shorts and decide based on where you are going and with whom whether to wear the jock when you're swimming for recreation. I have a pool at home so I wear it when the kids are around or we have guest.

At home, if it's just me and my wife or me and my buddies then it's all natural for me! Swimming nekkid beats any suit if its all adults!

I have a pair of Champion trunks, purchased in haste on my way to an impromptu pool party, that has what they call a "boxerbrief liner". It is *remarkably* soft.

I always cut out the netting as well. If athletic swimming is not in the cards, I just hang with nothing inside the trunks; If laps or other serious athleticism is involved, a Bike swimmer's jock is good underneath. In between, Jockey classic y-front briefs as underwear. They have a nice basket (even when wet) for your cock and balls, they don't get chafey or clammy/weird feeling when drying, and seem to dry at about the same rate as trunks if you're in and out of the water.

Wow. Just saw this thread. I thought that I was the only one who cuts the netting out of trunks. It's so uncomfortable and restricting. I usually swim commando under, unless they are a really light color, then I'll put on a jock under...
