Still wondering what kind of radiation can pass through clothes and not skin. (That is not beta radiation).

Heheh..That reminds me of something we'd say to others in the Army when I worked with SATCOM/TACSAT (Satellite Communications/Tactical Satellite). We used to warn people not to walk in front of the dishes or they won't have male kids...or their kids would be mutated.

Strangely, I saw a CNN report where they were discussing the new scanners and in one video they showed a male passenger being screened. As he stood with his arms raised and was scanned the outline of his penis was clearly visible hanging down his leg. I backed up the DVR three times to make sure I wasn't imagining it.biggrin1

I saw the exact same thing on CNN. These scanners show everything. Imagine if you painted your whole naked body in blue paint....that's how you look on the scanner. kind of hot.
Now, if only they can display the scans on a big screen TV screen for all of us to watch as we wait in line thru the security check. Then we can all feel SUPER safe (and either horny, violated, or disgusted). LOL!

It's probably not radiation, more than likely a type of 3D ultrasound.

i'd walk naked from the cabstand to the gate if it would get me on the plane with less than 2 hrs of being treated like cattle.
I'm more freaked out by being zapped with radiation every time i'm scanned at the airport, they just came out with a warning that CAT scans can cause cancer years after you had one, do you really want to add to your cumulative exposure?
it's all just TSA bullshit theater anyway, if we had any fucking clue how to fight terror we would have finished the job by now. deal with it people it's here to stay.

Two maybe 3 years ago CNN did a report about these new airport scanners. A passenger, looked to be mid 20's, volunteered to go through the scanner for CNN. The image was shown and I could not believe my eyes! You could see the outline of his boxers and his penis hanging down the left side with the head clearly visible - most certainly circumcised. I watched CNN for an hour until the report cycled again but the scanner picture was omitted. This was probably the same report Nick8 was referring to.
I subscribe to Aviation Week and have read several articles about these x-ray back scatter scanners and that the newer models have software that blurs the private areas on males and females.

I don't see what the big deal is. We've all got cocks and/or tits and pussies. Who cares if some random stranger see's what you've got under your clothes. You'll likely never see them again and if it stops some nut job from getting on a plane with an explosive, then your few minutes of 'uncomfortableness' was worth it

I don't think it'll add anything to security but it will remove more privacy...it security procedures had been followed (as put in place) would the most recent bomber have even gotten on the plane?
I don't understand. If it blurs those private parts, wouldn't it blur the explosive chemicals sewn in the underwear?
