New gym urinals in locker room, please give an opinion

Hello.
I am posting this to see what other people think about the new format of a newly opened Gym i am member of.This gym's locker room, like most, is fitted with urinals. However, these urinals have no dividers and are located directly across from an area where many change. The intersting thing is the method most men use them. I have noticed most men now using the urinals are totally nude(Aside from sandals) and tend to shower or change after peeing.I admit I do also pee totally nude occasionally due to their format.I found that it is for some reason much more confortable.
Anyway I would like to hear some of your opinions.
And if it somehow is important, I am 18, freshman in college, and just a bit over 9'' erect.

At all the gyms i've been members of over the years - high school, college and today - guys pee at the urninals naked on their way to the showers. I think its pretty typical. And depending on the guy...not a bad sight to see.

Guys should relish the freedom of being able to piss nude in the locker room --- what's wrong with it?

Although I must admit I was once obviously followed to the latrine by some really gross guy trying to see or do whatever, but I think that's probably a rarity.

There used to be a gym here that had urinals close enough to the lockers that you could watch the guys or get watched taking a leak. But the best part was the sinks and mirrors were located even closer. You could stand at the sink and shave or comb your hair naked at see all the guys checking you out. You knew who was interested and see those who wasn't.

One of the men's rooms at the student center at the University of Colorado-Boulder had an interesting design. It had those little wall urinals without dividers (similar to the pics below) so that there was no way to pee without putting yourself on display. What took it to another level was that the wall at the end of the row of urinals was a big mirror so as soon as you walked in the room you couldn't help but to see the reflection of the guy(s) peeing, even if you didn't look at them directly. I often wondered if there was a hidden cam somewhere. It would have been a good set-up for that sort of thing.

YOU GO WHEN YOU GOTTA GO,, so dont be surprised when its being used for what it was created to do. I take it you've never been to europe where pissing, sex or the human body arent as hidden as they are here in the states. Most places dont have dividers, and some even have a big tub looking thing where u just piss into it as if it were a pool.

as a personal trainer and a gym rat I am especially interested in postings about "gyms"......I am glad you like the new format...in your gym...a lot of gyms use this format ..easy access...a lot of planning goes into the design/implementation of a locker room and you will be surprised how much of it is based on the public's opinions....they do studies.....and oftentimes will go with what works best....hope you will be able to show off ya 9 inches

What difference does it make? Urinals or showers...they are all connected to the same drain pipe. :biggrin1:

Surely planners are not all thinking about who looks and who doesn't. It's got to be less expensive if partitions aren't included (what does each one cost? formica? steel? tile? marble?). It's got to be easier to clean without all the extra surfaces, angles, and closed in spaces. Maintenance has to be less; we've all seen the broken ones or the holes in the wall where they used to be. Surely you can squeeze more of them in the same amount of space if you don't have to separate them by walls or partitions. And what could be simpler and use less water than a trough that flushes every once in a while instead of every time a guy walks up and deposits a few drops?

I love it when you find a restroom with a good set up where you are able to get a good look at other guys, preferably without them knowing. The best is when you are able to see the urinals through the door of a cubicle, sadly the good stuff has always been *just* out of view when I've tried that!

I've asked this in another post but does anyone know of any good restrooms for this kind of thing in London, england?

One of the airport terminals I used to pass through had this type of set up for their urinals. There was a whole long wall of them with no dividers. I remember once there were only two of us in there. I was at least 6 urinals from the other guy. I could sense I was being watched, turned and he was wide-eyed in shock just holding his penis and staring at me. haha

I don't think that is too unusual. My high school gym actually had some urinals along the wall of the group shower. Guys would walk into the shower and go right up to the urinal, take a piss, then walk over to one of the column showers and take their shower. I used to do that when I would shower after practice.

We weren't required to take showers in middle school or high school, so no one ever did. (Well, maybe the teams did, but no one did after regular Phys Ed classes.) But at both schools there was a group shower area in the locker room.

And at both schools, the lights were always off in the shower area, and it was dark and musty. No one even went near the showers. If someone had, he probably would have gotten some funny looks. I was always tempted to go in there and look around, but I didn't dare. It was like this strange, mysterious, off-limits area in the far corner of the locker room. I was both fascinated and terrified by it, almost like it was haunted. I could almost sense boys of the past, seeing them like ghosts, laughing, joking, splashing water, and whipping each other with towels.

The middle school showers we especially interesting because there were actually two shower areas. The first room was right next to the urinals, and was fairly open, with only a half wall. But on one wall of that shower area was an entry to another, enclosed, group shower area. To my young mind, both areas had an aura of naughtiness to them. Anyone who showered in the outer area would have been exposed to the whole room, which seemed wonderfully and terrifyingly exhibitionistic. At that young age, I couldn't quite conceive of being exposed like that, but I loved the idea of getting to watch other guys shower. The inner shower offered more privacy, and was the one area out of view of the coach's office, but it was still a group shower, inspiring tantalizing thoughts about what naked boys could do together when adults weren't watching, if they were so inclined.

I was in Finland last month and found some of the urinal partitions quite paradoxical. Some were much heigher than I have seen anywhere, up to two meters, and in one restaurant up to the ceiling. On the other hand, in any swimming pool there is a sauna and shower area where everyone, but everyone, is completely naked.
