New Jersey may ban Brazilian bikini waxing
New Jersey may ban the Brazilian bikini wax as a health hazard. The state Board of Cosmetology and Hairstyling will meet April 14 to decide whether to ban genital waxing, a procedure made popular in Brazil to accommodate skimpy thong bikinis, the Associated Press helpfully points out. Normal bikini waxes would still be permitted.

The Philadelphia Daily News
quotes Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs, as saying the proposal was prompted by complaints to the board from two women who were injured and hospitalized. The AP quotes skin care experts as saying genital waxing can be dangerous in that the hot wax can irritate or tear delicate skin in the bikini area, resulting in infections, ingrown hairs and rashes.

I don't think it needs to be banned but they do need to be more careful about who is allowed to do Brazilian waxes. I had a horrific reaction to a Brazilian wax during the fall of 2006 when I was still living in NJ. Not only did the technician take a layer of skin off with the wax. I was allergic to the post wax soothing creme and she didn't believe me and applied more!:mad: My poor pussy was sore for days. Thank God for Neosporin with pain relief or I may never have lived to tell the story. :irked:

Gah... I do my own thanks. Much easier. It's a hot heat for a day or two, but I keep doing it because it looks good.

Damn girl, how can you possibly do your own? All I was able to do on my own was make a mess. I either trim with my electric razor (gets close but not to teh skin) or get a wax. I have a really good professional lady that does mine when I want to go there.

So let me get this straight: in order to "improve" on what nature has provided, people find it necessary to subject the most sensitive parts of their bodies to hot wax, then have it ripped off in one fast pull. But this isn't supposed to be painful?

No, wait: it's OK that it's painful when they tear out scores of hairs by the roots, but sometimes there's a little extra added pain thrown in that's unacceptable?

Or maybe (and I've heard this many times): because the practice is so common, it's presumed that the pain shouldn't be as bad as one might intuitively expect, and it's somehow the fault of the person applying the hot wax and ripping all those hairs out?

I have worked with women for most of my professional life, and Brazilian waxes have been popular for about 12-15 years now (off a porn set). I've heard this over and over again from otherwise sane and (reasonably) intelligent women and just don't get it, especially when they miss days off of work and expect it to be covered as an excused and paid sick day.

The high cost of abdicating reason for fashion and vanity should be paid by the person who is stupid enough to commission the procedure. If you request to have something obviously painful done that has no therapeutic advantage whatsoever, and pay good money for it, you deserve whatever happens.

The day it's illegal to cut on a male infant, then I'll worry about the safety of a woman having the hair removed from her cunt!

Use a mirror and rip it out. It's easy really. Takes about 2 hours though.

Seems like there'll be women crossing the state border then. Personally the only brazilian I want to see is a woman born in Brazil (incidentally none of them whom I've seen naked have had brazilians themselves).
