It's not maligned by most people who live there, it's from people who live in other areas. I'm glad I grew up there, it made me assertive, even though I tend to be shy at times. I left because of the cold winters. I also didn't like living in the cities since so many are old, rundown and ugly. Every town in most northeast counties in NJ is city like anyway. I love south Florida, it's a beautiful place that makes me happy, but I'm glad and proud to be from NJ.

I'm also not offended by show like Jersey Shore. I'm proud that it was such a huge ratings draw, and it shows Seaside Heights where I used to hang out in the 80s. I also like the Real Housewives of NJ, I'm proud that of the many metropolitan areas of the country NJ was picked to host one of their shows, this past season was one where all the women on the show are actually Housewives, on all the other Housewives shows they are not.

Hmmm, I'm as much a fan of Seaside Heights as you, but those types of reality shows really put NJ in a bad light with their antics/behavior.

I'll be joining you in south Florida in a little less than ten years. After three years in Buffalo, I'm over winter as well, but if I get accepted to Rutgers, New Jersey will be my home until I complete my doctorate. Then it's off to Homestead, Florida on a few acres.

I call New Jersey the armpit of America and I live here in Jersey Shitty. but I still love this place. When I go to my parents vacation home in Calliccon NY, I sometimes find myself homesick.

NEW Jersey May stink a little bit when drive through the Meadowlands, but once you hit Monmouth, or even Newport... makes living in New jersey all worth it.
