It just amazes me that our human population hasn't died out. The way people take offense to ANYTHING relating to public acknowledgment of sex, or more specifically a penis, makes me wonder if there's a rising trend in people who find sex disgusting and take no part in it. In this case, it wasn't even meant to be in any way sexual, yet the prudes were creating controversy where there shouldn't have been any.

I read an article about the speedos a few days ago. I kept looking at them trying to figure out how they were obscene. I finally got it.

Personally, I don't understand the upset. I think it is something to do with the cultural attitudes in Singapore that I don't understand, not being from there. I don't see why they should have to change the design, but if it is upsetting their countrymen so much, I guess they'll have to change the design.

The best part of those swimsuits is that the white moon is right in the center where the dick is. I think that the government way overreacted. Speedo has sold their racing swimsuits with various flag designs in the past. I bought a few of them and thought that they were great. Why not show your patriotism?

Singapore is a bit 'odd'. It is a cultural thing. I don't like the place, far too 'sanitary'. Being 'different' is frowned upon,; one is expected to be conventional and confirm to social norms.

Isn't Singapore a place where chewing gum is illegal and even rudeness is a crime? I can see how in that culture this would be an issue. Hell, I'm surprised that they can even WEAR speedos...

Haha, I'm not usually a censorship/modesty ultra freak, but I understand where they're coming from. It looks like cock and balls Any reasonable person could see where the problem lies. I don't know if it was intentional, but it sure is a laugh.

At international competitions, it is quite common for teams to wear their country's flag on their batrhing suit.

Singaporians would likely see their flag first. And I suspect the folks who approved the design also saw a flag there instead of a representation of male genitalia.

Much to do about nothing here. Really. The government should have just stated there was nothing wrong with having the flag on a bathing suit. (and perhaps asked the design be adjusted to shift the flag to the left by some amount for the next batch).
