if i wasn't already circumcised, unless it was medically necssary i probably wouldn't have it done. seems and sounds painful.

Imagine how painful it must be for a little baby. My parents said the reason they never had me circumsized is because they saw a video of a baby getting it done and he was screaming and crying like he was in terrible pain, which I'm sure he was. it just seems worse that an innocent little baby is being put through all that pain and has no idea what is going on.

true, but you don't remember it. circumcision gets done every day and if a baby wasn't strong enough to handle it, they wouldn't have been doing it for all these years.

You may not remember it when you're older but I'm sure that you will remember it for the next month or so after it happens. Sure the baby can handle it but hell I could probably handle having my balls stomped on it doesn't mean I would agree to do it. Whenever I think about it I just think of a baby being subject to the amount of pain that could possibly put a grown man in tears. What's worse is that they don't know if the baby wants it or if it will be botched. A lot of people just think, well what the hell, everybody else is doing it.

total bullcrap! the skin is supposed to be there if it wernt then every man wouldnt be born with one. its there to protect the gland and keep it moist, take the skin away and the gland drys out and the rubbing of clothing will harden the skin further, how is it possible that there is no reduction of sesitivity.

The fact of the matter is that we will prob never find out the true answer to this question, you would have to be able to switch between bodies of a guy who does and doesnt have a fore skin. men who have it then choose to have it cut later in life cannot get the life long effect of not having a foreskin and with guys that try and rebuild was was wrongfully taken from them will recover some senceitivity but can not ultimatly undo the damage.

anyway that my two cents on the matter, sorry for the long post but thats how i feel, i may not be right or wrong its just how i feel.

A baby might not have the memory of being circumcised but that doesn't mean he might not have suffered a trauma because of it, if a child under one is abused in any other way everyone is quite open to the fact that it might have ramifications in his later life, yet they can insist that circumcision isn't tramatic.

If you wonder what it might feel like to be uncut, try keeping the glans covered for a couple of weeks. In my experience, even in that short a time, sensitivity is markedly increased. Anyone claiming it makes no difference should try this.

About the issue of pain, the conscious mind may not remember, but the body does. That a baby won't consciously remember is no justification for subjecting him to totally unnecessary pain and suffering.

Not that this will change anyone's opinion on this, but my urologist told me that infant circumcisions are no longer done with the knife. They attach a clamp that falls off after a few days. He claims that the pain is minimal if any.
Perhaps someone in the medical profession can verify that this is true.

No I don't believe that although I'll check with a doctor friend tomorrow, what I believe happens is that a bell shaped clamp is put on prior to cutting so that during the cutting there isn't as much blood to obscure what the doctor is doing.

Not sure if that is true but I would think something clamping down on it hard enough for it to fall off would be painfull.

Cutting human skin always produces scar tissue which, invariably, is not as sensitive as normal skin.

Also, the glans of an uncut penis is shiny when fully erect, with the millions of tiny blood vessels and nerve endings producing a red, sensitive surface. An unprotected glans is invariably dried up and dull-looking, often requiring additional lubrication for activities such as masturbation. IMNSHO, circumcision is simply an ancient attempt to stem this activity.

The study mentioned in this survey sounds like an unscientific and bogus attempt at justifying an outdated barbaric ritual that is tantamount to child abuse.

That's right. And there's a video available of the clamp method being used.

Yeah jafar I'm obviously suffering from circumcision envy - duh do you find it hard to accept that its wrong to cut bits of other people off, if it was called penis reduction it might be a bit more honest.

Being circumcised is good. The anti-circ crowd simply has other personal problems and they put the blame on being circumcised. How pathetic!

We aren't anti-circ we are anti-circumsising someone against their own will. There's a difference. I fail to see how circumsising is a good thing.

There is a lawyer's organiztion called attorneys for the rights of the child (arc.org) that works on this issue. It seems to me that any guy who who is displeased about having been circumcised as infant could file a complaint against the offending physiciian (for elective surgery without consent) with the state medical board. They wouldn't win cases but would cause at least some inconvenience and embarrassment to the physician involved. They hate hassles. Done frequently enough, this could have a significant deterrent effect, especially now that people can access the internet to find out how many complaints physicians have against them. In my case, the physician in question is long dead. So, I can't do this myself.

Do you not find it strange that all these studies and information sites come from America simcha, you don't find any medical body in Britain condoning infant genital mutilation and I can assure you our babies don't suffer from it in the least.
