norseman: I know there are some active threads already about shaving the equipment posted in other sections of this board, but I thought this might be the appropriate place to ask, "Is anybody seeing this as a new (?) and growing trend?"

While I've had a shaved head for several years (the one on top of my shoulders...), it's only recently that I let the razor wander to my crotch, so perhaps I'm a little more aware of this, but I was at a clothing optional beach over the weekend, after a one year absence and was noticing shaved crotches on guys everywhere I looked. Neither age nor sexuality seemed to be a factor. Some limited the trimming to the cock and balls, leaving a bush above (I'm included in that group), others were quite bare.

So fellow (and lady) crotch watchers, is this the latest wave in good grooming ?

New? Hardly. I know people who have shaved for ten - twenty years, and they have said that it seemed more popular then than it is now.

rikter8: I've been shaving ever since I got out of High School.
Much Cleaner, feels much better, and it also enhances the look of the size of your equipment, if you are a little shy in size like myself.

Some guys say that it really itches, but I have not experienced this, EXCEPT for if I dont do a good clean shave.

Some guys use shaving cream or Gel, I do it dry, with a clean new razor.
Its just Hair, it will grow back. Try it, and if you dont like it, give it a couple of weeks and it will be back.

raj: I've noticed the trend also recently. Being in my mid 40's, I can remember when hairy guys were cool and blow drying their chest hairs to make it more noticable was in.

I've only also recently noticed because that most of the male stars in str8 porn movies are also doing it more and more.

And if you are ever bored and want to also notice the trend, look at MTV's yearly summger bash on the beach and see how most of the guys are shaved. What seems to be new now is that they are also advertising clean shaven crotches.

Personally, I started shaving my cock and balls because I got tired of condoms pulling out my pubs. I suspect that may be the cause most guys shave at least their cocks. Then you might progress onto the balls and you feel how nice it is jiggling them in your hand (even better if someone else is doing it).

Now on occasion for the hell of it, especially doing the summer, I go completly shaven. Maybe going to nude beaches has something to do with it.

SpeedoGuy: I started shaving for the same reasons as stated by raj.

It itched something fierce for the first month but after that...smooth and supple.

Not a new trend, I have shaved off and on for about 7 years.

chipster: I got shaved from the navel down for surgery a few years ago. Didn't like the look or how it felt. Thank goodness it grew back in a few weeks. Now I just keep it trimmed to about an inch.
I shave my chest sometimes, but never any lower.

norseman: Thanks for signing in on this one, everybody. I guess I knew that there was nothing new about crotch shaving, it was the sheer number of participants that I have been seeing lately that made me wonder if it was gaining a new popularity. Based upon the input so far, I guess the jury is still out.

Chipster, I too had pre-surgical shaving once upon a time and didn't like anything about it. That probably kept me from trying it out on my own for a long time. I limit my crotch grooming to the shaft and sack and have found it easy to maintain and relatively itchless. Raj is right too about the extra erotic feeling in handling the nuts, or having them handled.

prepstudinsc: I've been shaving around the base of the shaft and my balls since the early 90's, I guess. I had heard about it in college, but never really paid much attention to it. Then after college, a couple of my friends said that they did it. I gave it a try, liked it, and continue it to this day. I also trim my bush and my chest. I just don't like the unkempt look, it just seems much neater when everything is groomed. At dinner the other night, one of my friends was saying how she had to go to the doctor the other day and she was embarassed because she hadn't "groomed." She said her female doctor said not to worry about it that she doesn't do it everyday, either. That led my friend's husband to say that he regularly trims and shaves his balls, too. So to me it seems to be a widespread practice for those of us in our early 30's. I've got other friends in their 30's who do it....and is seems to cross all boundries, straight, gay, male and female.

hung: In as much as I use condoms for prevention of reproduction and have done so for about 26 years I started shaving the base of the penis many years ago. Nothing more annoying than to have the hair get caught up in a condom as it is rolled off after use. Since then I have also groomed my body near the penis and often shave the balls. It is a matter of preference and I prefer to shave. No problems with not shaving, however I enjoy my situation and not having the hairs roll up in the condom.

gigantikok: Question for the women (or anyone who wants to answer, of course):

Is not being shaved looked down upon? Are you turned off by a bush and do you expect every lover you have to be trimmed down?

HotRodRich69: hey everyone! guess who's back! well i have started really shaving my crotch last yr. I had done it before but not that much. But then my friend Mat told me how he did his, so now it's a natural thing....a shave the shaft and balls and shape my pubes into an arrow! lol.....an trim the hair all the way down. but it's comforting to have a lil hair still there. Also i shave my ass and chest, upper arms and legs. And since the chicks have been talking about my pit hair..i also trim and shave that lol. So it's all good. Body hair is a turn off for me. And i don't like to be with a girl with madd pubic hair lol....like i always say, i don't like hair in my mouth! :D ......

I prefer trimmed to bald, cared for rather than let run rampant. I would expect my partner to pay as much attention to grooming down there as he expects from me
