Welcome! Yes, people pay to join the group. It's a great site with members all over the world, sharing a lot of the same interests ;-)

After browsing around some more I really do like the people on here and thought I would donate to the purpose but when I went to check out after selecting a subscription the site was https but there was no lock in the status bar which means the people this site is using to accept credit cards is "transmitting in the clear" anyone who pays with a credit card.

They may want to investigate this as I have had my identity stolen from unsecure wireless transmissions from sloppy security.
