Wasn't it only four? I haven't watched the awards show myself, but I checked out later and only found four. Well, whatever - she deserved hers little statue, and looked great!

The second season premieres this Sunday at nine.
And here's the spicy one-minute commercial plug to go with it. Our beauties are all decked out in black, each blending in with the popular and beloved apple motif/symbol of Wisteria Lane.

Susan opens up her refrigerator and is overrun by a bunch of falling apples. Mike catches her just before she hits the floor, and she grins to the camera -- "Juicy." The music plays and pans over to Bree, slicing into a bleeding apple to add to a pie crust. Blood drips down the knife. "Juicy." A blood droplet hits a pool of water and an apple rises to the surface. A ton of 'em in which sexy Gabrielle bathes. She peeks out of a window to see a vision of Carlos in a jail cell. She closes her eyes momentarily and turns her gaze back to the camera. "Juicy." Lynnette appears in a smart and sleek suit juggling three apples, and Tom tosses in a suitcase for good measure. Finally, Edie picks the proverbial apple from the Tree of Good and Evil and winks to the camera.

I can't wait.

Perhaps we three should keep running commentary on the series. Maybe we can add smart, sleek, and sexy head shots somewhere on this thread. Maybe we can all three meet one day and pose with apples, too.

Take a bite. :)

I have seen that trailer, it's quite good, playing with that apple/temptation theme, though it had something surreal/dreamlike to it, like the bathtub or the refrigerator full of apples. I don't like surrealism.

Let's set our alarms for next sunday night and hope for the best.

I have to say - I really enjoy the show.

Seeing people whose lives 'seem' so together - but really aren't makes us all feel human. As for the actresses - they are all hot - maybe too hot - except for the fat lady who was killed - I wish my neighbos looked like all the ladies on the show - I sure would do a lot more yardwork :)

As for the guys - they seem average - except for the young stud and the plumber.

Thoughts???????

Hi there-

now guys (and girls) - reactions! I watched yesterdays season premiere on tape with a little delay, and was on a high - it's been great. I was afraid that the comedy and suspense of season one couldn't be held, but damn, it's just as good, if not better.

Especially loved the scene when Bree changes Rex's tie during the funeral ceremony, and how his mother arrived - yeah! Let's hope for more episodes of that style.

I'll have to get most of my DH premiere info from you guys, because my VCR taping screwed up and I got to see only half of it.

One thing I saw makes me wonder. Did any of you notice the way the new neighbor walked up behind Matthew (supposedly her son) and pressed her hands against his chest (about nipple high) as they were talking about his telling Bree his Father had died? Whatz going on there? Could big boy Matthew be something other than her son?

I'll keep checking this thread for up-to-date reports. Thanks, fellow fans.

Yeah, watching Bree squirm through the entire funeral glaring at the tie was classic. I knew she would not send off Rex wearing that thing. His mother seems a bit too rooted in the past; everytime she talked about him, it was about his pre-marriage days.

I was a bit surprised that Rex is actually dead. I was hoping for the whole "faked death" storyline, but it looks like it's not to be. I also thought that the kids weren't as upset as they should have been about their dad dying. Not a tear from either one of them (unless I missed it).

And how did a stud like Mike Delfino get a wimpy puss of a son like Zach? Maybe he's not really Zach's dad after all...

Maybe the influence of the raising parents is bigger than the one of the genetic heritage. But really, why is he a "wimpy puss"? Just because he wears glasses and Julie refused him? Okay, maybe he isn't all a younger edition of Mike, but he's not really on the wimpy end of the scale either.

Or they didn't get a better actor.

I missed all of Rex's funeral scene, but can visualize a squirming Bree glaring at the tie. I guess the kids have some of their mother's stoic disposition. I hope we'll learn more about Andrew's sexuality, i.e. acceptance, rejection, and/or other ramifications.

I think it's a far stretch to imagine Zach's being Mike's, too, but genetics can play cruel tricks, you know. BTW, TH815, I agree Delfino is definitely a stud.

Maybe it is the glasses (which is ironic, because I wear them too), but he is on the thin side (almost fey) which to me makes him "wimpy," especially compared to his birth father. I think he's a "puss" because he's a basket case on two legs. But I blame that on his "parents," especially his father.

Perhaps the character takes after Dierdre, his mother. Mike Delfino, however, is a prime example of stereotypical physical masculinity: rugged, chiseled features and muscular build. Zach has neither of those. Environment, genetics, or poor casting... you be the judge. :+

Mhm-mhmm... I have to make a confession... when I'm at the computer, I wear glasses too, just a low correction, but without them, I squint and clench my eyes after ten minutes because it hurts - earlier, when I still had a CRT screen, it came even faster.

Yeah, his raising might actually have cast him into the wrong mold. But then, do you remember the narrative flashbacks (I'll put out a tenner for the one who tells me which movie was the first one to base its explanation of the action on narrative flashbacks, btw) and they made him wear those ridiculously thick glasses just to show it's him?

I'd not consider Paul (Mark Moses) as someone who would raise a puss on purpose. Maybe it's really a set of genetics that stayed latent with Mike, or come from Deidre, together with Mary Alice's way of raising her son.

Whether you wear glasses or not, Bruce, I would never label you a "wimpy puss" after seeing your avatar.

It was hilarious - Rex's mother and Bree had argued over the tie before, and while Bree had suggested a subdued blue one that Rex has obviously liked, his mom wanted to bury him wearing his prep school graduation tie (screaming orange/green stripes). Well, he ended up in the coffin with the prep school one, and when Bree notices, she calls for the minister to hold the coffin open for a moment and files through the attenders rows until she finds Tom wearing a similar tie as the one Bree had proposed earlier, makes him give it to her, then puts it on Rex and says, "You look so innocent". End of the scene - hilarious!

Well, it's in the drawer of my desk. Don't need it for anything but screen work. If you see me wearing glasses outside of my house, it's my Wayfarers.

I give Bree credit for having balls! In reality I don't see anything like that really happening, but the thoughts of anyone searching attender to attender for the proper tie is, I agree, hilarious. Thanks for your replay, Bruce.

Hey Luke,

a little correction - she didn't say "You look so innocent" but "You look magnificient". I just set the VCR for tomorrow night and ran across that part of the tape again. Sorry for the mistake.

Thanks, Bruce. With the "You look so innocent", I had these thoughts of Rex's past sexual 'fun' with his box of toys and thought Bree was making a tongue-in-cheek remark before putting him away! "Magnificent" makes me know Bree's opinion of her "job well done"!

(Another "side" of you shining through, i.e., being willing to point out your oversights and wanting to correct them!)

In keeping with true Soap Opera storytelling, do you think that it will be revealed that Rex is in fact alive, and living in Alfre's character's basement? But that really would'nt make sense as there is no known connection between the families. Who do you think is locked in the basement, and why?

Hi there-

as hard as it is, I think we have to give Rex a fare thee well, as a living character. I speculated too, that he is very much alive and faking his dead to take revenge, but that theory starts getting unbearable, as there'd have to be too many persons to play his game (minister, undertaker etc). It's not impossible, but the probability is REALLY low for that.

Indeed, the person in the basement is a mystery - but for sure he's not Rex, his voice is completely different, plus, if you watched episode 2.01, you saw that the hand reaching for the dinner tray was a black man's, so that excludes Rex. Taking into consideration that the mysteries of this road are less mysteries and rather coverered-up misdeeds, I'd make an educated guess that the person in the basement is Betty's (supposedly run astray) husband. Notice that she said that not talking to him is "part of his punishment", and that the sounds he makes by rattling his chains are "part of my [=her] punishment"?

The evidence situation is still too low to take any better guesses. As it seems now, basically it could be anyone, but the best bet would be her unfaithful husband.

Bruce

BTW Luke - any kind of phrasing (magnificient/so innocent) - works fine. I think her mumbling - and the subsequent possibility of understanding both - are intended. But "magnificient" is more Bree's style, I think.

I poste back on August link

... that Marc Cherry himself said that Rex is dead, gone, deceased, etc.

The character may show up in flashbacks.

Thanks for the "insider" information re. Andrew, Nikolai. If Marc's the creator I think he is, he'll let us see more of Andrew, as you have indicated having an interest in.

I think it's evident that Betty has her husband chained in the basement and, as for Matthew being more to her than a son, she surely held him like I've never seen a mother hung a son! Man, I missed Susan's backing over Edie because I was 'talking' on pc and watching between my replies. Maybe I'm not as multifaceted as I thought! Bruce usually tapes the episodes, so he'll be up on the 'accident'!
