    Oy vey.

"Mr. Paladino declined a request to be interviewed after his appearance. His campaign manager, Michael R. Caputo, denied assertions that Mr. Paladino was antigay, and noted that he employed a gay man on his campaign staff."

Geez. Talk about jumping out of the frying pan and into burning hell. Bail out now, man. Sheeeesh.

Read the story this morning and thought game set match. What a douche. What scares me is that people clapped when he made these stupid remarks.

I wonder what these people would have thought if he was at a Catholic dinner and said I believe that Judaism is a stain against Christianity.

Good Lord. How does a twat like this get a nomination to run for Governor of NY? I remember Nelson Rockefeller and John Lindsey, both Republican's and both progressive politicians who were governor. WTF is happening to your country???

edit- correction Lindsey was mayor of NYC

At least the News media is calling Mr Paladino's remarks exactly what they are. Andrea Mitchell led off her newscast with the question" Is Gay Bashing a winning campaign strategy?"

Fuckin tea baggers who dropped that for only tea party, when they found out what it meant. They really do suck balls.

The Moral Majority and all those idiots who came to power during Reagan's time forced out most of the moderate Republicans. The few that remained were voted out of office in a backlash against how reactionary the Republican party had become. There were some really good northern moderates who got voted out because of it.

Carl reads a speech drafted by some "nutcase" Rabbi and then say he did'nt mean it because it was written by someone else.

Sadly, it's part of the Republican strategy lately. They're appealing to their base rather than all voters in general. It's a strategy that (I hope) will bite them in the ass sooner rather than later.

Kinda like all those racist pics of the Obamas and the pics of women getting fucked by horses he sent out to his email list, "I didn't create them, I just re-sent them."

Here's audio of the complete goon at his obnoxious best being interviewed by the super smooth Robert Seigel on NPR's All Things Considered October 5.

And quoting from his most recent debacle speaking at a gathering of Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn:
"... We must stop pandering to the pornographers and the perverts who seek to target our children and destroy their lives.

I didn't march in the gay parade this year. My opponent did. And that's not the example that we should be showing our children. Certainly not in our schools.

And don't misquote me as wanting to hurt homosexual people in any way. That would be a dastardly lie. My approach is live and let live.

I just think my children and your children would be much better off and more successful getting married and raising a family. And I don't want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid or successful option."

Monday morning, Paladino tried to appear less strident about, and more understanding of, homosexuality. Responding to anchor Matt Lauer's questioning on NBC's Today show, . . . he said his comments were limited to efforts to expose children to what some call the gay agenda. Or the gay pride parade, for that matter.
Video of the speech and the Today Show interview:

If you just can't get enough of Carl:

Very funny. Do you think any candidate gets the Hasidic (and by the way, Hassids are only one of several hundred Movements of Judaism) vote in any other way? You are reacting just as whoever slipped this gem into the news cycle wished you would.

Even if you're being ironic, the idea that this type of political speech to religious zealots (two words, by the way. Not all religious Jews are zealots. Please to Google Rabbi Irwin Kula and Rabbi Harris Goldstein, the one of whom was the first Rabbi I ever remember calling "Rabbi," the other of whom was the Principal of the Jewish Day School of Omaha (now defunct thanks to Lithuanian-Americans who forgot what goes after the hyphen and started harassing us Jews pretty seriously)) is new, or that it is endemic to the Republican Party is beyond silly. I paraphrase Jay Smooth, author of Giantlife.com's "The Giant Word" column and of his own The Illdoctrine, when I say that living in, among, and, especially, living by such muck and slime is the politician's modus operandi. He or she must make promises of various sorts to suit the interests of various groups of people in order to get elected. The trick, during any campaigning season, is to see the big picture and accurately gauge for oneself, "upon which of these promises does Candidate X seem likely to deliver?"

That's why it's ridiculous for the news media, which is supposed to inform the electorate, to focus on the buzzwords instead of upon the candidates' actions.

Evidently Paladino has just issued a six-point apology for his "poorly chosen words". Too bad he can't spell the president's name

I just luv a good political apology.........it almost reeks of, "what I FIRST said I really believe -- but now that the backlash has occurred............I'm a convert!" All the while sniffing the political winds!! God I hope the New Yorkers are smarter than to vote for this creation of the angry tea partiers.

He said his peace, he pays the price and that price needs to be political oblivion forever!

We have enough problems and using issues based on bigotry and homophobia usually indicate far deeper prejudicial opinions that probably include race, religion, and gender superiority. Glad he opened his mouth now. Get rid of the bum before he has the ability to decide anything.

You can add hypocrite to that list of Paladino character traits.
Seems as if he's renting some of his property for a gay bar. Go fig. Bash gay people in public as you pander for money from religiously bigoted people who are against gay rights legislation, but let them use your spaces for pay to do the very things you claim to be against.

Seriously, GOP... how the hell did you let your party get so damn bad?

Actually, one Orthodox Jewish blogger (albeit a politically and religiously lefitsh one) put forward almost the same idea--not that Paladino was manipulated by "the Jews," but that he was manipulated by one Jew in particular. I can't tell if he was being facetious or not:

Carl Paladino gets used, out-smarted and embarrassed by Yehuda Levin

Take the time to scan the candidates are running for governor in 37 states, all 435 house seats and 37 senate seats. Many of them are nutjobs , self-loathing haters or clearly off their medication for bipolar disorder. in CA, we have two classic millionaires who have an Alice -in -Wonderland view of theworld: Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman. Both are losing ground daily in the supposedly Republican year, and each day brings more information on their past which they have so diligently filitered and scrubbed. The GOP has fielded same of the most pathetic losers ANY party in this nation has nominated for high office -EVER. The Dems have 2 terrible candidates as well: Charlie Rangel of NY and Alvin something of South Carolina. They both need to be on trial, the sooner the better. At least half of the GOP candidates need to be at either a criminal trial or a sanity hearing in their home state. While i dont agree with Marco Rubio of Florida, he seems to be one of the few people the GOP nominated this year that is neither a wackjob or a criminal. But hey, stay tuned.

Don't you just love it when people apologize without apologizing ?
I guess to apologize without apologizing isn't all that horrid; it opens the door for one to "forgive without forgiving".
