Wow, murdering 10 activists on a relief boat?

    Nice, real nice.

I wonder how Israel likes it's ambassador being recalled from it's strongest Muslim ally?

Has the world had enough opportunity to view the violence and disregard for humanity that Israel chooses to thrust upon the Palestinians?

They shoot children through the head, run bulldozers over American citizens, kill American sailors, blow up anything that they deem to be a "target" and have now murdered at least 10 activists and injured dozens in a hostile releif boat takeover.

Israel claims that they were attacked first which is a HUUUUGE line of bullshit.

If any of the Israeli soldiers turn up with a bullet wound, you can be sure that they took one for the team ala "Training Day".

Israel has proven time and time again that they do NOT respect International waters, anyone remember the USS Liberty?

    Nice, real nice Israel.

Now reports say 19 dead. And the EU calls for a thorough enquiry! As if Israel will take the slightest notice. They can do what they like because the rest of the world will do nothing to stop them and the US will continue to provide billions of dollars of military aid. "U.S. funding that pays for the guns and ammunition, F-16 bombers, and Apache helicopters that are used to carry out Israel's occupation of Palestinian land and people [and] serves neither Israelis, Palestinians, nor Americans." (Jewish Voice for Peace)

As part of a 10 year deal agreed by GWB and lasting until 2018, Israel will receive $2.7 billion in military aid in 2010 rising in 2013 to $3.15 billion (Jewish Virtual Library).

"In his recent State of the Union address, President Obama pledged to 'go through the budget line by line to eliminate programs that we can't afford and don't work.' One week later, he sent his FY2011 budget request to Congress, which included a record-breaking $3 billion in military aid to Israel. Before Congress gets to work on the President's budget request and considers transferring an additional $3 billion in weapons to Israel, it is long past overdue for the United States to reconsider whether we can afford this policy any longer." (Huffington Post)

    oh GIVE ME A BREAK.
they have done it in order to stop hamas from getting supply and help!
its not like this supply is being handed to the citizens of gaza, its all going to the hamas and therefore helping it grow and keep their actions!
its indeed a very horrble thing killing people for that matter but you cant ignore the facts that hamas is doing even worse things like their basement is under hospitals using citizens as human shield and etc'

I fail to see the humour in these events. Or am I misreading your intent?

I would wait to find out what exactly happened before jumping to such conclusions. Here is part of an article in Ha'aretz (which, by the way, is a left-leaning paper):

Hmm - think there were some Brits on board too. :/

People (US n UK) really want to be on Israel's side - or at least be supportive, but they really don't help themselves sometimes.

We get that they're under attack from Hamas - but why not just stick to the roadmap and stop building settlements where they're not meant to be? Both sides need to make concessions in order to attain a (fragile) peace, that would at least be some improvement on the current situation for everyone. :(

On the opposite side of the fence....the EU does seem to be automatically anti-Israel (and anti-US) at the moment, so maybe they could do something about that to be more impartial. I sense they have their eyes on being some sort of Middle East mediator (and occupier??!) at some point, so they need to sort out that bias first.

Good advice. As left-leaning as Ha'aretz may be, I wouldn't rely on them to provide both sides of the story either. This has been all over the news on this side of the world for over 12 hours now and it doesn't look like Israel is coming off as the good guys here. There are many many other sources of information and I hope Americans will look beyond the BBC, CNN and NYTimes and Israeli media for news. I wonder how this will be covered by US media and will the US public get anything other than Israeli spin?

It is incredible when you think about it. The state military attacked civilian vessels 60 miles in international waters. They have seized the ships and boats (two of which are under US flag) and taken them to an Israeli port. Killed 19 people, wounded an unknown number, and are holding the rest incommunicado, including five members of the European Parliament, Nobel laureates, journalists.

As far the violence directed at the commandos, why would anyone be surprised if those on board defended themselves from an assault? Paintball guns? Seriously? LOL... Commandos don't go into action armed with paintball guns! What a lie... The IDF has put out a video showing the weapons they where attacked with. Some slingshots and lengths of what looked like half-inch aluminium tubing... They attack a humanitarian convoy full of peace activists, politicians, journalists, bringing 10000 tons of humanitarian aid and they spin it as a defensive action.

If this had been done by the Iranians, what would the reaction in the US and UK and Israel be?

This is what some Americans are hearing...
The Israeli military attacked a Gaza-bound aid flotilla, leaving at least 10 dead, after receiving reports that the fleet had links to al Qaeda, the Israeli ambassador to Denmark said Monday.
"Before the flotilla entered Israeli waters, rumor had it that the organizers [of the aid initiative] had links with the al Qaeda terrorist network," Arthur Avnon was quoted as saying on the website of public broadcaster DR.

Disclaimer: My response here is directed at the quoted article, not at Calboner.

I love that police-state justification: Well, we basically violated their sovereignty and forced them to either abdicate their free will or respond to our incursion. When they chose to attack us with the sticks and makeshift weapons they could fashion, well we just had no choice but to put them down.

Fucking bullshit. The technology for non-lethal incapacitation of hostiles is quite advanced these days, particularly for deployment against unarmed targets...and being funded and supplied by the US military, Israel certainly has access to the latest and greatest. Not that they'd need that...tear gas, anyone?

Many evangelical bible thumping christians support everything Israel does simply because they see the rapture and armageddon as necessary for christ's return.

    Genius.

Totally. At this point, we are getting a sanitized and possibly fabricated story from the Israel security forces. But on the other hand we have an emotional and possibly fabricated story coming from the activists. I tend to want to believe the activists' story over the security force's story though, their story seems a little more plausible than the heavily armed security forces being suicidally attacked by paintball gun, knife and pipe armed peacenicks.

    But who knows?

The only thing that is for sure are people's husbands, brothers and sons that won't ever be coming home and the deep and profound personal grief that will be felt by their loved ones. Death sucks.

The three games scheduled for next month are cancelled.

The Ambassador has been recalled from Tel Aviv and the Foreign Ministry demanded an explanation from Tel-Aviv, warning that "the incident may lead to irreparable consequences in bilateral relations."

Greece has also cancelled scheduled war games with Israel.
