It's slightly different but i do see the similarities, yes, cause wasn't Emma's character the one doing what she wanted to do? I don't remember the plot very well though, but I loved that movie, haha.

yeah the similarity is that you have these social climbers who successfully manage to seduce queer royal figures and make them do what they wanted.

From my understanding is that George was a highly sought after Socialite at that time and that James I is the one who pursued him. I think the mother comes in helping George take full advantage of the King. Emma's character was the opposite as she was a maid and had to work hard to seduce Anne.
