I saw a related post somewhere else and it got me wondering how many guys feel the same way I do...

Let me preface this post by saying that I'm very clean and shower at least once a day -- sometimes twice.

Lately, I've started experimenting with not wearing deodorant and really enjoy the feeling of going natural. My body odor is very mild, and I actually find that it turns me on after a long day at work to be able to smell some of my natural manly scent. I get turned on by other guys' natural scent too if it's not too strong.

How many of you out there have also decided to not use deodorant? Does your own scent, or the scent of another man turn you on as well?

I do not use deodorant when I am on my own, outdoors away from other people for a while( hiking, trekking etc.)
However I have to use it when at work and (obviously) with GF as I have a powerful man-smell.
Some women seem turned on by it...as a novelty?
I do however shower at least twice a day if I can(City, work etc).
One cannot really work or interact in crowded environments like MRT,office etc without some form of antiperspirant however. It does give offense.
There is a difference between smelling bad/stinking and smelling fresh sweat.

I quit using deodorant a few years back except when I've got a very stressful day I usually don't hae BO maybe smell a littl by nd of he day. I don't like men with poor hygiene, but a man who's sweaty or even a little gamey...that's hot!

I like scent. I wear deodorant though unless I absolutely can't.

Other guys will sniff my armpits and a lot will like the scent even if I think it's appallingly bad.

I always use deodorant before I go to work in the morning or on a date.

Don't want to drive away all of the girls that I met at work, or want to get rejected for sex after a date because I smell...LOL

This is so interesting. The manly smell is actually natural pheromones that get excreted from the skin, from hormones going through the immune system. These pheromones are a way that others can tell about your health, and subconsciously helps choose mates that strong/differing immune systems.

I usually only wear deodorant on days that I don't shower. I have issues with the fragrances(alcohol) in soap messing up my skin, so I don't shower everyday. Ive never smelled bad to my gf or others I meet. If anything I only get complements from girls about how good I smell. But I'm also half filipino so I don't sweat much and have a low amount of body hair. Though I have friends who say that if they don't shower everyday their hair gets greasy and slick. We all have different body chemistry.

ERM.....

I shower at the very least once a day - even with a good anti persperent I find my bo coming through after 6 hours or so and in need of another shower. All my mates seem to be fairly similar.

I know we are all different but perhaps its also to do with how good your sense of smell is? Anyone which uses the tube in London will know (due to extremely cramped conditions) that "especially" guys pretty much just stink after a day in the office.

I think BO has a lot to do with diet. I noticed a big change in BO as soon as I cut out dairy products and pork from my diet. Didn't do this to change my BO per se, but just noticed a big change from adjusting my diet.

Every man's body chemistry is unique. Hygeine, heat, humidity, and clothing all impact the status of your armpits. I am friends with a guy who doesn't seem to sweat one bit. Years ago we slept together twice. His pits, crotch and feet had no aroma whatsoever, and he had not just showered.

I usually shower twice a day, and I use antibacterial soap. I like to wear clothes that "breathe" pretty well. Put me in flannel and my pits will be ripe in minutes. Light cotton tee shirts are my thing, and I don't get swamp pits. I use antiperspirant unless I am only going out for a short period of time. I, too, like the natural feel, but I save that for when I am staying in. When getting romantic with a guy, timing is everything. No one wants stink pits, but deodorant doesn't taste good, either. So a recent shower is the best answer there.

Apparently the more you wear deodorant, the more you need it. I'll admit that I wear it, but I always try to find the most ethically made deodorant, and the one with the least amount of crap in it.

Studies on breast cancer tissue found a lot of parabens present, as well as traces of metals that shouldn't be there. They could only attribute it to deodorants. Anything by the big, leading brands will have parabens in it (methylparaben, propylparaben, etc), and probably a lot of aluminium too that gets absorbed by the skin, right where your lymph nodes are.

I'd buy from Holland & Barrett (for the British LPSGers) as their stuff is natural and, subsequently, will help your body in the transition from using harmful deodorants to producing a pleasant scent full of pheromones and a hint of whatever the natural ingredient of the product is. Though you might have a rough couple of weeks at the start.

That's a really good point about our bodies absorbing all those chemicals. Lately I've been using deodorant only for stressful work days, but will look into a natural deodorant as an alternative.

My sweat doesn't have an unpleasant odor. I think it's partly my body chemistry, the rest because I'm a vegan. I use antiperspirant just for moisture during the day when I'm wearing dress shirts and I don't put it on every day.

I think that things like this can be really scary. There are so many other products that are obviously incredibly bad for us and blatantly detrimental to our health, but we use them anyway. Food is another great example of this, but that's a whole other story.

I think that as long as you bathe regularly, the phase from using harsh deodorants to natural products will be simple enough, and I guarantee that your lymph nodes will thank you.

i used to not use deodorant because i hate the way it feels, and it positively obliterates shirts if you don't wear undergarments... even then, you're tossing out perfectly good undershirts after a few months because you can't wash them enough to get the cakey mess out of them. even if you only wear one swipe under each arm, it still screws your shirts up.

i really like the way a healthy person's unadulterated armpits smell; it turns me on so much... male or female. I can safely say that it is one of my secret little things that i will quietly go wild about when a good looking person sits next to me on the bus, and they possibly had a failure of antiperspirant, or aren't wearing any to begin with.

it was said before: "BIG difference between pheromones and bacteria/ filth odors," and this is true. You can smell the difference in someone who is rather healthy and has a detectable amount of pheromones wafting about them, and someone who smells like an italian sandwich with heavy onion. that is fucking disgusting, and should be dealt with by seeing one's doctor. also, daily, or multiple washings daily, will help clear the more offensive odors away... depending on how active you are. anyone can smell like a wonderful human being... if you are mindful of the state of your pits.

i had a trick i had used for years when i wasn't wearing deodorant, and that was wearing an essential oil under my arms and in my chest hair after my first shower of the day. it sometimes got me a lot of flack: "who smells like a fucking hippy?" i would hear occasionally. more often than not, i would get the "are you wearing patchouli? i LOVE patchouli!" from people. a current friend of mine really loved it, and misses the oil and how it mingled with my natural scent. alas, you cannot work in an office smelling like you just left a Grateful Dead concert... and if there is anything that i don't like, it is being called a/equated with hippies. my patchouli and rosemary oils sit lonesome on my bathroom shelf, falling into desuetude; being used only in the occasions i have to oil my electric shaver... :(

the whole "deodorant has chemicals that seep into your body" thing is pretty weak; scant evidence from questionable sources... just like every other pseudoscientific gem out there. even a ten-second google search about the subject will bring up a WebMD page about the topic, telling about how there is no founded connection between cancer and whatever other problems aluminum is associated with by the woo-woo crowd, unless you have kidney issues. and there are definitely no mind-controlling aluminum nanobots waiting in that stick of old spice... or perhaps that's what the nanobots controlled by lizard-man nazis on the far side of the moon want me to say...
