Yup, but yeah that whole racism/bigotry thing can be solved just by...pulling yourself up by your own boot straps. Yeah you don't need to vote while you do it cause laws don't matter.

It was the plan all along. Set up voter "ID laws" that disenfranchise minority voters under the guise of "voter fraud", then make it difficult if not impossible for that same minority to vote by 1) closing driver's license offices, 2) moving or closing polling locations in minority areas early.

And it's going to happen more in other states.

Then when people, who have NO other recourse, take to the streets to protest yet ANOTHER race based injustice, bigots will do like they do HERE: brand the people as terrorists, hate mongers, "race peddlers", "agitators", and those "blaming society" and looking for "free stuff".

Not trying to stir it up, actually really approve of this measure. However, I read on another blog comments saying how the automatic registration based on getting a driver's license is a "runaround" (to use the other person's words) since California grants non-citizens driver's licenses (i.e., people not eligible to vote; directed at undocumented immigrants), it will just automatically register them to vote even though they legally cannot. Simplified--because undocumented individuals cannot vote, but California allows them to get driver's licenses, this law will automatically register them to vote illegally.

Can anyone prove or disprove this issue? I have to imagine it's not true. Read part of the law I found online, but could not find any exemption for the automatic enrollment for those who legally cannot vote. Is this true?

Drivers licenses for undocumented immigrants is not an automatic thing. They have to go through an interview process. Since this new MotorVoter law has an opt out option it would seem logical that something could/would be done to exempt non citizens from voting.

Yeah, they need to fill out a different application for the "AB60" Drivers License anyway, and they have to show proof that they can't prove their American Citizenship, so where ever the person gets their knowledge from on this topic, that automatically registers illegal immigrants to vote is spurious. There is a lot of stuff floating around the internet planted by anti-immigration "nativist" types and otherwise ignorant people.

Actually Gore lost the unofficial recount.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the media for calling then not calling the state. Maybe people decided not to bother to vote once the state was called.
