That reminds me.

One of my co-workers is an openly gay man. He is also a 6'0, 200lbs, retired SFOD-D operator (Delta Force).

During a class we were teaching, we had some idiot going about how he desires to "lite up some fag with a .44mag" (his exact words) and other shit of that nature during break. So, my co-worker politely says to the guy "There's a "fag" right in front for you, if you wish to try."

The homophobe turned pale, ran off the range, and didn't come back. Not even for a refund. Gave me a good chuckle.

And about the group that the OP posted. It's nice to see more people either not caring, or looking past a person's sexuality.

More people should care more about a person's character, not some silly shit like who they fancy.

There was a time in school when I was talking to someone. While I was talking, a guy and his friend from behind me were talking about something and one of them said something like, "Fuck that faggot shit." His friend said, "You know, you shouldn't say something like that, it's pretty hurtful." The guy was like, "Eh, whatever." I turned around looking at the guy straight into his eyes and said, "Yeah. Really hurtful." The guy looked at me and looked crazy embarrassed and worried and walked away while his friend laughed.

It's the same response every single time a homophobe comes into contact with a gay man who is willing to get into it.

I know about the Georgia study, though I don't recall the 80 cent figure.
Basically, it said that homophobes and self-declared gay men had the same erective response to gay videos. (Even straight men who were not homophobic had some response, I should add.)

I am curious about the second study.
Do you have a link?

All? Or most? Or simply quite a few?
I've known attractive homophobes, and I'm fairly sure most people have.
I get where you're coming from. A lot of homophobes have nutting to worry about, but I think you're going a tad too far.

You do unnuhstan, Meester Bear, that allus takin the werds outta my mouf iz a phorm of thepht?

Do me a favor, next time you read about a homophobe in the media take note of his physical attractiveness. 100% of them are fugly.

As for the second study I don't remember the name but it came out just a couple of weeks ago. I am sure you can Google it. As for the first study it made no mention of the arousal rate of gay men. For homophobes 54% got a full erection with another 26% showing significant arousal. For nonhomophobes 24% got full erections with another 10% showing significant arousal. We all know homophobes are closeted cowards but the interesting part over 1 out of 3 claiming to be 100% straight nonhomophobic men, aren't 100% straight at all. And these are the men who in sites like this put 0% gay.

Awesome posts guys! Well...VikingDude's post was less than awesome, but you get my meaning!

You gotta understand where he is coming from. For him to think 80% of the homophobes he knows are just closeted cowards would be a lot to deal with. Denial was a lot easier to deal with before the Age of Google.

Tony Curtis? Mel Gibson?
It's very often wrong to say 100 percent of anything have trait X.
^QFT

Now i WILL say that once I know someone is homophobic, or racist, or sexist, etc they tend to look a hell of a lot less attractive to me. But that is my being biased. Until then, hey may very well be physically appealing.

And while ignorance does breed intolerance and hate, there are some incredibly high IQ'd people who are very hateful.

I refuse to get into another pointless debate as to the meaning of 100% anything, as such arguments tend to go round and round nowhere. (that was not directed at you Mr. Conan, but the other)

Saying 100% of X trait also depends on context. Some circumstances warrant the full percentage. Other circumstances don't. Sometimes I believe it is harder to discern which circumstances it is appropriate for. Being that I have intimately studied hegemonic masculinity, I can safely say a very significant portion of men in American Society are homophobic.
I suppose you make a point NYC. To think you have friends who are not only homophobic, but massive schlong-lovers is a massive jump. It must really shift one's perspective on homosexuality so far to the point where it could be difficult to handle. I will admit, I have spent so much time on the subject, it is difficult for me to find common ground with such a viewpoint. I am making myself sound like a scientist again. Have I mentioned hpw abstractly I think? Makes it diffuclt for me to communicate in the first place!

Tony Curtis? He has admitted having sex with guys so he isn't straight and Mel Gibson made homophobic comments in 1991.

Try finding an attractive man in the media that's made homophobic comments in the past 20 years. You're proving my point completely here...

Ok then you do it. For every attractive homophobe in the media in the past ten years that you can find I can find a 100 that are beyond fugly. If you insist I will be happy to start posting pics of recent fugly homophobes in the media and it would be my pleasure to start with Tony Perkins and Fred Phelps.

Btw, the name is Michael.

Yup.
I highlighted the "Mr. Conan" because, really ... you should call me Connie.
It's time, Nico. It's time.

Kid, have you missed the two studies which prove homophobes are closet cases?

These aren't just my opinions but results of scientific studies.

Let's just drop it.

No I will not drop it especially when I am right. You countered with two men. An admitted bisexual and someone who made homophobic comments over twenty years ago. Is that it?

Sorry but I started noticing years ago that every time I saw a guy in the media make homophobic comments it was always a guy no gay man would ever want to hook up with. It was then I recognized the direct correlation between the two so, no, I just won't drop it when what you offered as rebuke only proved my entire point.

Btw using Mel Gibson as a homophobe when he has been making nothing but racist and antisemitic comments lately isn't an example of a homophobe, its an example of a total all around asshole. Hate knows no boundaries though.

Such as? There are some people with lots of degrees who are very hateful (whether they are legitimately well educated is, of course, another question), but high IQ'd? I keep coming up with people in my mind who are famous, usually rich, and good talkers, but NOT "incredibly high IQ."

I have a semi-solution for you. Start a new thread, with the sole purpose of posting picture of fugly homophobes from the media. Then everyone can debate on whether or not these people you post are homophobes or not. It could be a healthy discussion you clearly want to consider in more detail. :)

Id suggest the discrimination folder. Actually, I'd like to take a look at such a thread myself once it got going. It's not something I've ever considered before, but it sounds like it could be a fun debate.
