No Koran Verse Ringtones in the Toilet, says a Muslim organization

A fatwa is an Islamic legal decree made by someone who has extensive knowledge of the Sharia law.According to the organization people who use verses from the Koran as ring tones and answer their cell phone midway through the aayat are committing a sin. “This kind of action amounts to a gunah (sin),” said Ghyasuddin, a senior cleric with the Islamic group Jamia Ashraf-ul-Madaris.
“Listening to aayats partially is anti-Islamic,” he added. He said the practice leaves a bad impression on young children.“If the phone rings and an aayat can be heard in the toilet, it is a sin,” Ghyasuddin told.
I'm guessing an aayat is a poopie. :yuck: Frankly, I don't think you should answer the phone in the toilet no matter what religion you are. If I'm calling you and you are on the toilet or at the urinal, I can leave a message. Keep your hands where they are.

It doesn't say that you can't answer the phone in the toilet. It says if the ringtone is hearable in the toilet (eg: you can hear it ringing from in the living room) then it's a sin. Of course, this implies that answering the telephone in the toilet is of course a sin, but it's not what it says in the article.

I've heard it a couple of times. The ayaat ringtone is quite nice actually. Quite a singy tone. You imagine a guy at the top of a minaret calling everyone to prayer. (You know, like in the movies).

How about issuing a fatwa banning cell phones in the toilet .... period??!!??

I was taking a leak at the BWI airport on Sunday and some jackass was chattin it up on his cell from the stall while talking to a man about a horse. Talk about being 'overconnected'....I'm rarely on the same page with the Mullah's, but I think they are onto something here
