I was wondering if anyone has noticed that most 'Hollywood' movies never show any penis. Almost all movies for adults only show boobs and vaginas but us women and gay men never get to see some penis.
Does anyonen know why? Does anyone know any movie with a lot of penis showing and action?

Most of the owners of the movie business belong to one of the monotheistic religions. All 3 of these have strange ideas about sex! I'm Catholic......
Most censorship authorities also belong to one of these three groups.

Interesting point.

There are a few theories floating around as to why this is the case.

1) keeping women as the focus of sexual objectification maintains the male-in-power status-quo (if men were the principal sexual objects in society, women, in theory, would have more power)

2) men are simply uncomfortable with seeing other men's penises in general (evokes homosexual thoughts, for example)

3) male actors are embarrassed to show their genitalia (size reasons)

The first theory is very likely (this is all discussed in Queer theory).

True true true.

"Nudity" in American cinema is all tits & ass.

Well if America is all for tits and ass, then how come Hillary Clinton is aiming for the White House?!!

(That was a dumb comment and not meant to spark any political discussion... I didn't sleep much last night and my brain is dead!)

Because Hillary Clinton is an airhead flaming liberal, and so many Americans are stupid.

I wouldn't vote for somebody for their alleged sexual attractiveness, but for their conservative leave-us-alone policitical, freedom-loving views.

Hillary has neither, so she is totally unqualified for political office, so why don't she just shut up or something?

Here's an idea. Maybe we need no more dick in movies, because breasts and vaginas are all about sex, but dicks are "gay." Does it make sense? Maybe not completely, but then TV and movies aren't real anyway.

One equal opportunity penis director is Peter Greenaway (British director of such films as The Pillow Book, Prospero's Books, The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover <with Helen Mirren!>, and many others)...most of his films feature more male nudity than female...

It seems that I haven't seen any of those movies anyway.

I'm not so keen on stupid crude comedies or endless irrelevant boring dramas of actors doing little but talk-talk-talk. I'm more into sci-fi, Star Trek, old respectable TV shows like MacGyver or Gilligan's Island, or Knight Rider, where they didn't show, much of anything at all.

Come to think of it, most movies I haven't seen. They don't seem to put many movies on free bunny-ears TV anymore, I watch less and less over-air TV, and don't they release what? another 10 movies a day? No way to keep up.

Who's Larry Craig?

I do sometimes listen to Rush Limbaugh on the radio, and enjoy his environmental update spoofs and condom updates, or whatever they call them now?

I don't agree with him on everything, such as his pro-smoking views, but find his conservative views, along with that of his substitutes when he is taking some vacation break, quite refreshing over the typical liberal garbage pervading so much of the media.

There is no straight male conspiracy to retain "power", and I couldn't guess why people would choose to believe there is one. Vulvas are also not shown in mainstream film. The most likely reason for the absence of either penises or vulvas in movies is to appeal to a wider audience. Most people simply don't want to see full nudity outside of porn - they want to feel comfortable seeing the movies with friends and parents. A movie maker is free to make whatever kind of movie they want, with any degree of violence or nudity. They know, however, that their movie will be rated and that an NC-17 or X rating will mean a much smaller audience and a lot less revenue from it.

I know it's fun to speculate that men or the Church or some other cabal controls what we see, but it's pure fantasy. The fact is, the market is still relatively free and in a free market it's supply and demand that determines the success or failure of a business.

Actually, I think it rather stupid how I hear that too many movies aim for a "middle of the road" sort of rating. Too sexually graphic, and audience will be restricted. Too G/family-friendly, and supposedly it isn't a "serious" movie that many adults would want to see.

Seems rather stupid to take a perfectly good movie, and have to "spice it up" a bit, to get a middle-of-the-road sort of rating. Surely there are many good G-rated movies?

And too often movies are stupid or dumbed-down, or otherwise a waste of time to watch, because so much of the audience that buys them, is stupid. Or has poor taste in choosing movies worth the time to watch.
