I haven't seen all the referenced movies but the ones that I have only showed flacid cocks, IIRC. I've not seen any US made, mainstream movies with hard cocks. I would put flashing a flacid cock in the category of the way a pussy is shown. You usually only see the bush if there is any almost never with legs spread. I personally feel that sex in a film doesn't make it pornographic, in fact it can make is very romantic and it is a very important part of relationships.

I saw Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story starring John C. Reilly a few days ago. It has its moments, especially when John C. Reilly is on screen. He plays it totally straight.

There are a few theories floating around as to why this is the case.

1) keeping women as the focus of sexual objectification maintains the male-in-power status-quo (if men were the principal sexual objects in society, women, in theory, would have more power)

2) men are simply uncomfortable with seeing other men's penises in general (evokes homosexual thoughts, for example)

3) male actors are embarrassed to show their genitalia (size reasons)

The first theory is very likely (this is all discussed in Queer theory).
