I truly think there's three sides. There should only be two sides:

1) Al Gore is a humanitarian, a patriot and an ex-politician.
2) Al Gore is a patriot and an ex-politician who believes himself to be a humanitarian but is really an alarmist about a complex issue who has at least done a lot of good to get people talking about globel warming and the environment.

But suspiciously there's a third side:

3) Al Gore is a danger to society, unpatriotic, unAmerican.

To believe this last one, a person would have to have a hidden agenda or be a drinker of the Kool Aid.

Actually, this is very well put.

But seriously, do you must be drinking spiked Kool-Aid! (Where else would that stupid jug come from?!)

Do you think Mr. Gore PURCHASED his prize or do you think that it was properly awarded?

For him to receive such a prize should be likened to a U.S. athlete winning a gold medal in an international competition. You should be extremely proud of his achievement.

For you to ask if he "purchased" that prize makes me wonder if you would prefer some other country to get the glory or were you just trying to imitate Ann Coulter?

I don't have one. A relative of mine applied for (and failed to get) a Nobel prize, and I've always wondered about it.

Your relative must have been loony. One does not apply for the prizes. The Nobel Prize commitee decides who is worthy of the award.

Al Gore would sell his dick to the chinese... he is a WWWHORE

Very very very very very very well put.

Forget the private jets, mansion, etc.... if Al Gore REALLY REALLY cared about global warming (not even going to go into the laughable plausibilty that a fluorescent bulb will counter the effects of the sun) he'd name Chinese companies public enemy #1 - #10.

Crazy as his argument is... there is no argument.

The Nobel prize has lost credibility years ago, just as the Grammys has, and this just re-inforces it. The Nobel literature prize is even more far downhill for the very few whom chose to follow it.

How about he's the son of Jimmy Carter, and the biggest hypocrite in a long time been.

I don't believe scientific issues have an impact whatsoever on the Peace Prize. The Prize is awarded to someone who has worked to aid his or her fellow man. Though it is called the "Peace" Prize, it is not exclusively linked to the furthering of pacifism and only pacifism, its name comes from the widely accepted theory that war and violence leads to death and suffering. In this case Peace simply means to aid. As such, Mr. Gore is certainly qualified to be a Laureate, just as much as Muhammad Yunus was in '06 (and you never heard anyone questioning that choice). He's attempting to allow future generations to have a better life, or a life at all (farther down the road).

I'm not picking sides on global warming here. Whether you believe it is true or believe it isn't, you have to admit that Gore has been driven by what he believes is true and what he believes will aid humanity. No matter what way you look at it, no one is being hurt, and there is no malicious intent. It wasn't his donations that got him the Prize. Rather it was his championing of the cause and his focus on educating the world on the subject. Bill Gates has donated much more than Gore to various causes but, unless he changes his tactics, will never receive the Prize. Throwing money at something and going around the world educating about something are quite different.

And for the record, Jimmy Carter didn't win last year. He won in '02.

He's a hypocrite? That might seem true, but by raising awareness and instituting CO2 reducing programs the emissions from his jets and mansions etc. barely make a dent in the emissions eradicated.

Again, believe what you like, but since HE believes global warming to be true, what I said holds. I think you can afford a bit of luxury if you're making that much of a difference anyway.

Where to begin on this bloated hack... I'll say it again... if he REALLY cares, he'd spend every dime and every minute going after China (if you have ANY clue on the Chinese industry).

Yes, that's right. Isn't it obvious that the country that has most to gain by being conscious of the environment is China? Naturally, they pollute very llittle and their industry isn't going anywhere. So of course they woud buy off Al Gore.

This is all a Chinese plot. Why didn't I think of that?

The worst part of what the prize has become is the award for the Greatest Liberal of the Year... and has very little to do with the original intention.

If Gore were to mention, much less lash out at the Chinese, that would be in violation of multi-cultural acceptism... he'd never do that.

When Carter won, the head of the committee (a VERY small committee by the way).... said the awarding of the prize to Carter was a “kick in the legs” to the US administration over preparations to invade Iraq."

Nuff said... I can predict the Oscar for Best Documentary 9 months ahead of time, as well. It's deplorable and very divisive.

Beautiful. So why can't the rest of us?

Do as I say.... not as I do.
