My nomination is for;

"God's Own Country."

I went to see it last night not knowing much about the film.

Although the main character is both unpleasant and slightly pitiful he's also very intriguing and good looking in rough laddish way.....
The film has an excellent story and script plus fantastic performances by all of the actors.

It is sad, moving and at times very erotic.

Possibly the best film I've ever seen featuring a gay character.

The repressed emotions of a farming family in N Yorkshire makes for an uncomfortable watch at times, but there are a few touches of humour...... which like the family's feelings are well concealed.

I highly recommend this film.

Mmm, so hard to choose....
I really liked Plan B, Argentinian movie, and most of Almodovar.

I suppose #1 would have to be that Ted Heath in Bareback Mountain ;)

Look so great! So, they said they release a movie on September 1, 2017 but I was wondering which they do come out on dvd or in cinema?

"The Law Of Desire." by Pedro Almodovar featuring a young Antonio Banderas as a psychotic hustler.
Antonio Banderas has a totally nude scene, which I wonder if he regrets now..... ?

"Bareback Mountain" has the slowest start I have ever seen in a movie.
but it does have one of the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen.

I haven't yet seen "Plan B".

I think "God's Own Country." is better than "Brokeback Mountain." too.

I found myself comparing them on the way back and thought it's the Yorkshire version of Brokeback Mountain. :D
The Yorkshire accents might be difficult for some to understand, but the dysfunctional elements are probably universal ?

Any more nominations ?

If you get the chance to see 120 Beats Per Minute (original title: 120 battements par minute) - highly recommended. The most accurate / intimate sex scenes I've ever seen in a movie (gay or straight for that matter)

"God's own Country" has several references to Brokeback Mountain, but the setting is the present day and the general attitude to homosexuals and gay sex has changed - even here in the middle of nowhere in rural Yorkshire where the film takes place. One exemple is the scene where the grandmother finds a used condom which our young Johnny and his Romanian migrant-worker-lover have left in a pile of clothes on the floor - and she hardly raises an eyebrow!
I like the harsh British realism, but I also like the fact that the film leaves us with a hope for the future.

I'm pretty sure LPSG-members will enjoy the film's rather long frontal nude scene. ;)

I'm nominating The Birdcage purely because it's a fun movie.

While HIV, depression, suicide, homophobia and coming out are all important issues, I am absolutely sick and tired of watching miserable gay people tormented by their demons for 90 mins.
