The thread title says it all. How many can we rack up?

    I'll start:

The situation in Greece worries me, but it's difficult to discern how much of a negative effect it will have on the USA, the UK and Europe.

I'm also concerned about the situation in Iran. I do not believe their president when he insists that they are enriching uranium only for peaceful purposes.

It's partly our fault. If we had chosen a better technology for nuclear power, i.e., liquid fluoride thorium reactors instead of uranium, and shared the technology, this would not be happening.

I'm concerned about the slow pace of (and in some cases a complete lack of) repair and replacement of public infrastructure by the City of San Diego, ie broken sidewalks, potholed streets, rusting sewer and water pipes, etc.

Maybe SD needs to stop pouring money into social programs that give a ZERO return.

    Ooops.... sorry. That was partisan.

    Ummm....

I am concerned about the lack of everyday people in gov't. We need less career politicians.

I'm sorry, I think you meant to say New Orleans.

Well I didn't think this was going to make it to a second page either. But...

Can we all agree that corporate power has gone way too far? Can we all agree that the rest of the world shouldn't suffer because of the blind greed of the top 3% of US citizens?

^ Nope. Because there's a whole pack of tools and fools who think if they get to play in that big unregulated corporate casino in lower Manhattan they'll end up in that top 3% too. And honestly, if I said I preferred chocolate ice cream over vanilla, I fully expect conntom to say it proves all 'libtards' hate white people.

BTW, conntom, you don't know jack about San Diego, or anything else for that matter. What little social programs exist there are mostly funded by the state, the feds, and the private sector - not by local government. It's truly sad how that city has crumbled in the past 20 years or so. It used to be so beautiful.

financial regulation is coming down the pike soon, and there probably won't be as many opportunities for companies to suck giant profits from negligent activity.

And hopefully you won't have any more reason to pick on Wall Street:tongue:

Sadly, the bill working its way through Congress does virtually nothing to prevent most shenanigans of the sort that created the recent meltdown. It's a bigger cop-out than the Healthcare reform bill, and housing the so-called 'consumer protection agency' inside the NY Fed is putting the chicken in the foxes' den. I imagine that makes you very happy, but we should all be very worried what shoes may fall. :frown2:

Do you think it will provide provisions to stop congress from doing things like.....oooo I dunno....maybe FORCING banks to make BAD loans....

Then the banks make it worse with how they handled bundling these bad loans up...no doubt....but

Can we put the blame on the people who started this. The democrats. Yayyy....we're democrats ...we're so good and thoughtful...we'll MAKE those big bad banks give loans to all you people who can't repay them.....

And MAX....dude.....do not being chocolate ice cream into this. I love that stuff!

Non partisan: I like all flavors of ice cream except strawberry.

Sorry... the bailouts started during the Bush administration.

And that is not a non partisan statement.
To be non partisan is to create a statement without prejudice. Claiming that you love all ice cream EXCEPT strawberry, shows a negative prejudice to that one flavor.

Here... let me show you what one looks like:
Politicians need to do what's best for our society and not just look out to pad the pockets of their special interests. Civilians choosing to engage in an honest political debate need to know the difference between ideology and realism.

The topic is called non-partisan political comments, not "blinding, sectarian political statements" for a reason.

VB....try to use your brain and go back before bailouts were needed.

Who MADE the banks make bad loans?

Hint: One word answer....begins with a d and rhymes with Femocrats.

Wrong. The banks made the bad loans. Period.
There was no "Femocrats" at these establishments, with guns to the heads of CEOs forcing them to purposely create predatory loans destined to extract every last dime out of their clients. It's their business... it's their money... it's their shady business practices. Financial institutions putting socially inept, fiscally unqualified people in their most important positions and fucking up do not equate to a political conspiracy. So you can stop trying to blame Democrats and Liberals for this one.

Our country is screwed because of those who blindly support others on their image and ideology instead of their substance. It's not because some Democrat or Republican you don't like is in the White House. But please... while you're on this roll of ignorance, keep telling us what else you think is the fault of Democrats? But please... do it in a different thread. This is for non-partisan speech and not sectarian hackery.

I wish the electorate were, en masse, more educated about the political landscape (history, law, reality vs. myth/spin, etc.).
