Borlaug, who saved millions from hunger, dies - Yahoo! News
YouTube - Greatest Man to Ever Live: Norman Borlaug <From Penn & Teller's show Bullsh#t>
The man who started the green revolution in the 60's has died at 95years old. He improved the yields on wheat by double in India and Pakistan, through traditional plant breeding. He saved hundreds of millions of people from starvation, one source credits him with saving 1 billion people from starvation. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970.
Borlaug was to the starving of the third world, as to what Luther_Burbank (notably the potato named after him), was to in improving American crops, and to what George_Washington_Carver was to, in finding commercial products for the peanut. Yet unfortunately his name is little known, and that is a shame. :frown1:
May he rest in peace.
