Apologies if this is not allowed here or a strain from general discussions, but I’m in a bit of a pickle.

USA based here. 19 y/o, bipolar, I guess you could say I have a porn addiction, hell who doesn’t. But it feels impossible to find help for. Anyway,

I’ve always followed the rules. I find a lot of my porn on twitter, I have a thing for otters.

Well, some account was selling shots of an instagram model. They assured all the pics they were selling were of-age models. The ones I bought I know for sure the model is 20, according to their insta.

So I paypal this schmuck to get the pics. Something told me later he was outta the UK or Phillipines, but hell could have been US based for all I know. But yea, a red flag I shoulda probably thought about.

Anyway, about a week later, I see the account selling photos of another model- after visiting that person’s instagram, their latest post was them celebrating a 17th birthday.

So while I’m pretty confident the stuff I bought is of-age, this person is selling underagers too. Now I’m wondering when the photos I have were even taken, or how they were gotten. The ones I got seemed old, almost like they weren’t taken anytime recently.

So the reality who I’ve involved myself in is starting to make me sweat. I deleted and wiped everything anyway. But, it happened. its too late, there’s a bank record of a transaction between me and this person, a person who is selling underage pics.

I’d like to imagine this could all just disappear because the ones I bought are of an of-age person, though the age of the photos is questionable. But people who do that kinda shit always get caught eventually, and I now have a recorded tie to this person. Twitter messages, paypal transfer. Sure, my message explicitly asks that this person is of-age, but I doubt that’ll make a difference when this person gets caught for the illegal content they have. Which will probably eventually happen.

So, now what’s going to happen? What could happen? Is there anything I can do?

Clam up and pray, or be forthcoming and present all of the evidence you have to the proper authorities(i really hope you have proof of your confirming if age appropriate) and hope they have mercy on you because you didn't make them come find you. Given how stings work on a long term basis, I think youd be better served going the second option.

This

To remain silent when you know the seller is exploiting minors would make you complicit when (not if, when) they are caught.

Definitely agreed, and sooner rather than later works in your favor... I think the FBI handles child porn and human trafficking concerns? So just consult your local yellow pages and contact the nearest field office. Advise them of all communications, reciepts and digital footprints pertaining to this concern. Be fully prepared to surrender every single computing device in your home, and go ahead and forewarn any roommates or parents in the home they may have to so the same.
Its better to be safe then sorry; in most cases unless there's a formal complaint from a parent or some other 3rd party, most investigation or law enforcement agencies arent going to consider an exchange of nudes between a 19yr old and 17 yr old a top priority(though if it were my 17 yr old daughter id probably kill you on the spot). But you never know what flags international trafficking and child porn can throw up via the internet, and I can almost guarantee you even if there is no active investigation, somebody, somewhere is at least glancing at your digital fingerprint, just to see what you are going to do next, or if youll possibly lead them to a bigger fish. So be proactive, no different than if you found out you had recieved and inadvertently spent counterfeit money, or unknowingly purchased stolen goods and found out after the fact.
Theres no shame in sex work and despite a resistance to admit to it, there really shouldn't be any shame in patronizing it either, but to only way to maintain that lack of shame is to immediately squash the undesirable elements that provide reasons to demonize sex work...as someone who claims to have somewhat of a porn addiction,a great way to reform that into responsible porn consumption and use is to be on the right side of the law when you come across the bad stuff.

As others have said notify the authorities before they come looking for you.

I think you've just learned a valuable lesson. Buyer be ware. That's why I never purchase porn off the internet.

Be honest with who ever you report this too. They'll take into consideration you're 19, inexperienced, and any record you may or may not have.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. And don't buy porn off the internet. Good luck.

Not really.

Still, the morally correct thing to do is report the account that charged you to the authorities. You didn't think you were paying for anything illegal. "Buyer beware" yes, but you didn't consent to a crime.

Thinking they will crack down on you is a bit paranoid to say the least. You are 19...

You seem to be very guilty about your porn addiction and paying for pics.
