Again... if an inexperienced community organizer, with ties to Bill Ayers can get elected to the presidency of the united states, ANYBODY can, including and especially, Newt Gingrich.

It seems people forget that 3 years ago we elected a guy who was 10,000 times more unelectable on paper than anyone running today. But idiocy, media cover ups and mass hysteria ushered him into the White House.

Newt Can win, and if he is the nominee, he WILL BE the next president. Believe it.

............and your reasons for giving him your vote????

What does it matter anymore?
The county is so divided, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference who the President is. If there is a lesson from the Obama administration, it is that the President has limited power in a completely divided country.

And please don't beat that bad leader drum. It wouldn't have mattered who was in office.

...what kind of politician can meet [these] basic G.O.P. requirements? There are only two ways to make the cut: to be totally cynical or totally clueless.

Send in the Clueless

Great article...........he poses the question if the Republicans DO win -- then what? Truth be told I actually believe whoever wins will end up in the George Bush mode of being told to "sit back and play to the media -- we'll let you know what to say!" Isn't it always --- follow the money! In Republican circles (and according to many on here even in Democratic circles) -- there's a lot of "beholden" to be faithfully paid back once the balloting is finished! Drill baby Drill!

Community organizer? Oh, you mean the US Senator and Illinois state senator, former professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago, civil rights attorney and erstwhile president of Harvard Law Review vs. the divisive failure who was disciplined by the US House of Representatives and resigned in disgrace 3 days after getting elected to his last term? The guy who couldn't get tenure as a geography instructor? The one who busies himself writing "historical fiction" books and leaving ailing wives for women he's already having affairs with? Yeah, that's a great sell.

Really? You are actually going to argue that Obama had a resume that warranted being president? He spent 2 years in the illinois Legislature and 2 years as jr US senator. What a fucking joke. All he can do well is read a teleprompter.

Gingrich is not the "perfect candiate" by any stretch. He has a checkered past and record. But at least he actually has a "past and a record" unlike Obama in 08.

Then we get 'George W. Bush' third term. Expect zero departure from the failed policies of Bush, the same 'low taxes and zero regulations' duct tape to every issue. There isn't an issue that the cure isn't the same prescription. Expect another preemptive war too. This time the boogeyman will be Iran.

You are an ignorant fool sir.

Speaking of clueless....and a serial liar to boot......

The thing that I see is the potential of some other individual to come out of the dark at the very last minute.

The Christian Right Wing hates Romney not because of his ideals, but because he is a member of the Mormon Church. If he were not of the Mormon faith Romney would be a complete no-brainer for the GOP.

What is sad is that a number of individuals running are concentrating on one group and one group only and that is "Religious Extremist Conservatives" who feel that they alone are fit to run a country.

I am not fond of Obama and as I have said many times my main criticism is that I feel his actions tend to indicate a spineless wimp. At the same time, I am watching groups of individuals who have the potential through extremist viewpoints to set this country, one of the greatest in the world back hundreds of years.

Another sad thing is that the GOP tends to blame their opposition for being big spenders of money when it is the GOP that prior to the election of Barak Obama spent taxpayers dollars like they were water.

In the meantime there has been a consistent move to bankrupt the country as part of a long range plan to rid the country of any program to help the people who populate it.

Because of the economy fewer and fewer are able to obtain higher education than in years past, because of desperation jails are filled with people who turned to crime rather than death by starvation. Nationwide the corrections system is becoming an ever increasing expense with little actual effect as an agency for deterrance or rehabilitation. Because of computer data banks a kid who gets nailed for shoplifting when he was 15 may be unable to get a job when he is 30 because these old records simply are never erased.

There are good things happening. Most of the American Automobile Industry appears to be planning on bringing all the jobs back to the United States.

Ford Motor Company found production on some models grinding to a halt in the United States when the Tsunami hit industrial facilities that made engine management systems and even paint for U.S. produced cars. GM and Chrysler had also sub-contracted all of these operations to foreign manufacture because of cost. What they learned with the Tsunami was that they could lose the whole shooting match.

There is a long term plan by Chrysler to end production of trucks destined for sale in the United States produced in Mexico because of long term quality control problems. This was one of the larger reasons that Daimler-Benz parted company with Chrysler. They had representatives from Germany living in Mexico and the minute the German inspectors would leave, the quality on the vehicles would slide down hill. Trucks destined for the Mexican and South American markets will continue to be built there, but the plan is to return United States production to this country. General Motors and Ford have made this same intention public.

The one thing we cannot do is to make the error of electing candidates that are more interested in what is going on in your bedroom than they are with what is going on with the economy of this country. We also need representatives and this applies not only to the President, but to Congressmen and Senators who have allowed major industries to rape the American people and then be "bailed out".

If we want change, we have to hold people who place the welfare of major corporations well above the welfare of the American people.

We as American people must elect representatives that outlaw "Golden Parachutes" for Corporate executives. Right now with regards to personal success it is far more profitable to go in as a corporate CEO and to run a corporation into the ground. In fact, the wisest move for these guys is to get that Corporation into red ink as quickly as possible. This means their tenure is short before they get the multi-million dollar bonuses and move on to wreck another corporation.

Recently we have watched a very major thing.

What I find interesting is that very likely Herman Cain was blown out of the water by his own party, the GOP. Nobody declared him unqualified for the office he was seeking, they gave themselves away by going for sex and scandal. Did he do what he was accused of? The truth is that none of us will ever know. As soon as he is gone I would bet that all of the people willing to testify against him will just "go away".

Over time, dirt will be unearthed on other candidates as well if they do not "get out" in time. They will only bother to harpoon people who would pose a legitimate threat to the candidates the "big boys" within the party want as the final contenders.

The one thing we have that we absolutely need to watch this time is to take a great lesson from four candidates from the past.

The GOP did something really brilliant as far as political and election strategy with the candidacy of George W. Bush. They installed a very weak President easily controlled and manipulated by others based on emotional instability and ego. They installed one of the strongest and most brilliant businessmen in Dick Cheney in the number 2 position. By doing this, they could use the poor public speaking and antics of George W. to create a complete and total diversion from what Dick Cheney was doing.

They attempted a similar move with the election of John McCain. In McCain, they had a candidate that was in many ways electable and a moderate. In Sarah Palin they had their wild card, a person who loved the camera, and a person easily manipulated based on her own ego. If that had worked, we might have been far worse off than we have been with Barak Obama. Based on the age and health of John McCain there would have been a high possibility that we could have seen "President Palin". They then could have brought in a dark horse and you would have had another eight years of Bush like policies.

In the current candidates, watch for the appearance of individuals who can make the "extremist" the center of attention while in truth the manipulation of everything takes place in your government behind closed doors.

The sad part with many in the GOP is that they themselves do not see that their own party is no longer representing the conservative voter. The GOP continues these days to field candidates that appeal to the most extreme of viewpoints. There was a time decades ago that I was proud to be a supporter of the GOP. Those days left with the infiltration of absolute extremists and more interest into the events of peoples bedrooms and morality than in the economy and the wellness of the country.

The most electable candidate with the greatest ability to pull the conservative Democrats is Mitt Romney, and he is the most electable for that reason. If they leave in the extremists and remove the clear heads it makes for more problems. If Obama were to win, personally I don't want to see any kind of landslide. He needs to stand up for the people and he needs to start house cleaning. If the Dems do not begin the task of housecleaning of their own ranks they are as guilty as the GOP for not purging their ranks of the same kind of counterproductive people.

Remember that all candidates of all parties can be manipulated and as pressure for money increases this is very likely to happen.

Gingrich- Finally, the Republican party gets a front-runner who is such a greedy, fat, arrogant dick, he accurately represents the party!

Love Paul Krugman's piece here Gingrich is so insanely unlikeable, so ridiculously mean-spirited, money-grubbing, exploitive and hypocritical, that he should get the nomination. Repubs rejoice!

Im not going anywhere you fuckin liberal scumbags! In fact it will be awesome rubbing it in the face of all the brain dead zombie fucks once Obama fails do to everything he promised...............As a black person myself, this election may prove to set back the struggle for equality in America even further, because by the end of these next four years, this silver-tounged idiot is gonna fuck everything up so bad that it will be decades before this country takes a chance on another "black Prez".If Obama's approval rating is above 40% by the end of 09', I'll never write another word on this site.

I've been following politics since I was in the 4th grade and JFK ran against Nixon. Of course I didn't understand ALL of the nuances etc. AND it's pretty obvious that the political milleu in this nation has changed rather dramatically in the ensuing 50 years..........but for the life of me I'm trying to REALLY figure out why Newt Gingrich of all people is currently gaining the momentum he is in being the number one choice of voting Republicans!

OK you conservative guys on here. I'd be VERY interested to know the qualifications you think this man has to BE President....and why he might be YOUR candidate of choice!!
And please....................please............don't bore us with the simpleton scarcastic reasoning, "Well......he ain't Obama!" I'd like reasoning FOR not rationale against!

Thanks for your input!

Red, highlighted and underlined. I beleive Newt has more experience than Obama in politics. That would be national / world politics.

Don't bore me with blaming everyone else and stand behind what decisions you've made Mr. President.

Even Newt Gingrich has his good moments. Watch the video on this page, in which a reporter asks him to comment on Mitt Romney's statement that Gingrich should return the money that he earned from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He replies: "I would just say that if Governor Romney would like to give back all the money he’s earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over his years at Bain, that I would be glad then to listen to him, and I'll bet you ten dollars--not ten thousand--that he won't take the offer."

I was wondering when someone would finally bring that up. Romney made a good deal of money off his activities as a vulture capitalist. Of course it's a debatable question as to who is worse, Newt with his snout in the public trough or Mitt laying off American workers.

It's going to entertaining to watch these horrible people tear each other apart over the next six months. It just beginning to get dirty folks.

But he's a black guy (rrriiiiiight) who just has to get the word out about how awful Obama is. Some things are just too important to shut up about.

Exactly. A black man that despises the first black president and oh Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson too.

The $10,000 comment --- as a bet! Hell, isn't that what they charge per plate at their oh so "open" fund-raising dinners???

Let's see..............Mitt Romney "If you're looking for someone who grew up without advantages -- I'm not your candidate."

Rick Perry: "Sold -- to the highest bidder!"
Newt Gingrich: "I was making $60,000 a speech!" And a 1/2 million account for this wife at Tiffanys!

Hmmmmmmmm...................."but......We're for the "little" guy!"

Ya sure, you betcha! And how many homes do you own???:rolleyes::rolleyes::tongue:
