^ midlife shocking isn't it? He he takes it to the next level here:

Newt Gingrich says he'd defy Supreme Court rulings he opposed

It is extraordinarily entertaining watching the GOP base engage in this 'anything but Romney' exercise over the last six months.
I guess that when you've got God on your side, you can't help being impatient with paltry human institutions like the rule of law. Puts me in mind of some words spoken by a fictional version of Thomas More (a far more admirable character than the actual one, by the way):
Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law!

More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!

More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you — where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast — man's laws, not God's — and if you cut them down — and you're just the man to do it — d'you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake.

I have just recently come to the ominous conclusion that the "real" Republicans could care less who their nominee is. It's why they can't find their "savior." Now that NO campaign money needs to be disclosed ----- the whole Presidential hoopla is a smoke-screen for their real agenda. I bet lots and lots and lots of Koch Brothers and Walmart heirs money is going to be pumped into Congressional elections so that the Republicans take over control of BOTH Houses of Congress. If they can't defeat Obama -- they'll cripple him -- while at the same time gaining the REAL power in the USA and that is the Legislative Branches. It's why they're working in State after State to ensure voter suppression. It won't mean much to the Presidential election -- but it WILL matter in Congressional races!

Newt is astute. It is no wonder his support to over-rule the courts makes Republicans in Iowa cheer. Last Nov. they successfully recalled three Supreme court justices who voted in favor of gay folks having the right to get married. Their replacements will be appointed by Governor Terry Branstad who is a Republican.

Newt is astute.
He's a what? Well, it's a good rhyme, anyway.

Frank Shaeffer has an interesting blog post today: "Newt Gingrich, the Republicans, and the Loony Religious Fringe."
Frank Shaeffer said:
Every single one of the sops Newt Gingrich and the other Republican candidates are throwing the far right have been scripted for them by generations of so-called Reconstructionist "thinkers", Roman Catholic ideologues and Christian Zionists that have been pushing the religious community -- and America -- steadily in the direction of overthrowing democracy and replacing it with some version of an Americanized theocracy.
Since Shaeffer is the son of one the leaders of the religious right and used to be one of its proponents, he knows whereof he speaks. He goes into much detail about the scripts that Newt is following and where they come from.

But when Democrats do it, it's socialism. . . .

Boston Globe said:
Before he became Romney’s rival for the Republican presidential nomination, Gingrich called the Massachusetts law a potentially path-breaking way to extend coverage to the uninsured, according to an April 2006 newsletter called “Newt Notes’’ originally published by Gingrich’s consulting firm, the Center for Health Transformation. . . .

“We agree entirely with Governor Romney and Massachusetts legislators that our goal should be 100 percent insurance coverage for all Americans,’’ the newsletter said. “Individuals who can afford to purchase health insurance, and simply choose not to, place an unnecessary burden on a system that is on the verge of collapse; these free-riders undermine the entire health system by placing the onus of responsibility on taxpayers.’’

Newt gingrich is a fool and a cartoon character similar to foghorn leghorn of decades ago. He is not a serious candidate for anything other than a heart attack. Southern fried crap, pretending to be real food, will do that to you.

Mensch1351 is absolutely correct. We (The voters) do NOT elect the President. Congress (Electorial Colege) does, and there is NOTHING that says they have to elect who we want!!!!

We need to clean out the House and Senate of ALL the lifers and get some new blood in there to make changes that actually count.

Instead of the corperation bail outs, they should have given it to us and let us bail the corperations out by buying their products.

Example:

They handed out close to 13 trillion dollars.

IF they had done this:

Split it up between every US citizen:

Over the age of 18.
With a VALID Social Security Card.
Who voted in the previous 2 Congressional and Presidential elections.

Say 1 billion people (Just an example), that would be 13,000 per person. Granted, not a lot, but with many families living with multiple people of every age group, that could add up fast.

Example: Family unit (Mom/Dad, Parents, and say 3-4 children over 18), that would make 7-8 each getting 13,000 would =91-104,000 for that household/family.

Now before ANYONE gets a penny, ANYTHING owed on their credit report would be paid first. Credit industry bailed out!!

Next, requirement to get solar/wind generation for house.

Anything left over would be at their descreation. You know they are going to go out and get at leaswt one car. Auto industry bailed out.

I'm sure there are problems with the simplicity of the above, but it would have worked better than what obama did. At least we would have has something to show for all that money, instead of a few VERY rich executives.

Newt says:

"I think it would be cool to get four porpoises, a wet Nigerian, and do the merry lunch limbo. That would be a bad-ass mission!"

"Hairy chests destroy our power, and I went poo-poo in the egg salad—no, Mary, oh, m'garsh, that's not what I wanted to say!"

I think Newt should be declared winner because he has better hair and he has lost a lot of weight over the years.
