I've scratched myself so many times, but a chunk sounds so painful! Yikes!

I am interested to know how your nails got so sharp? Or are you really rough with your parts?
Having played guitar, I always do my nails and they are always rounded and very dull. I don't think I could break skin unless I really pushed.
Cutting without trying seems as if your nails were way too sharp.

My nails aren't even long (maybe 3-4mm past the quick) and I've taken a chunk out of my arm before when drunk. Still have the scar. Could be a male/female nail difference.
I know right? WTF is up with that shit? I used the specially formulated one for "bikini lines" and it was for extra sensitive skin. Like I said I can so sympathise with Dolf about injuring your Precious, I think I would have passed out if I'd seen blood though, poor Dolf.
I would think it is more an issue of how your nails are filed.

Mine are thin as well. A rounded shape but very thin. I'm forever scratching myself accidentally although don't usually draw blood.

Maybe thats genetic that you nails are so hard, or it is result of your diet.
If you press a nail on skin it is just the question what will soften first and take away the energy, i there was a pretty good blood flow keeping that skin from flexing that much under the pressure, the hard nails then did the rest.,
Either way it sounds like a rather painful womens issue, but the fact that you said you didn't notice if it wasn't for the blood makes me think it might not have been so bad. I just hope for you the healing won't be painful and tedious.
I can't judge about that area but for several reasons i found rather often that my skin is hurt or that there is a chunk of flesh missing, and i often found the healing much worse than the actual cause.
