Nude boxers/mma naked weigh-ins

Is there a reason why camera crews, both motion and still, need to be present for these weigh-ins? I'm proud of my body and don't mind showing it at appropriate times, but I would probably cover my junk in this scenario, too. He's having a weigh-in, not posing for a nude photo shoot.

and there are a lot of people at the weigh-ins. its like the last chance to get one up on your opponant before the fight.

I probably wouldn't cover what I have, but I do wonder about camera crews photographing everything. Someone could photoshop a picture and make it look like porn with the guy's face clearly recognizable.

Years ago, on a camping trip, some of us were bathing nude in a stream. When a guy asked permission to take my picture, I gave him permission with the provision that he NOT take a full frontal shot. Well, he took a full frontal shot, and there wasn't much I could do about it. I suppose that I could have grabbed his camera and thrown it into the stream, but that would have been a bit too extreme. He wouldn't even send me a copy of the picture.

Being naked for the weigh-in isn't necessary, as they could simply subtract the weight of the shorts. But because boxing is a truly macho sport, I think it's more of "I'm man enough to show it all" to intimidate the opponents.

Do you really think that a boxer could intimidate his opponent by revealing his penis? To me, that seems unlikely, but I know nothing about boxing.

I know nothing about boxing, either, but I do know that psyching the other guy out is an objective. A guy who shows off a big dong is saying that he's more of a man than his opponent.

I just watched a weigh-in video, and at least a couple of the guys must have "growers", because they sure didn't show much. By displaying it they're saying that it takes REAL guts to reveal a small penis. And I guess it does.

In any case, boxing is the only sport that routinely puts the athlete on naked display, and I suggest that it is for the macho factor.
