Nude sun bathing

Anyone know if nude sunbathing on a beach that isn't designated a nude beach constitutes a sex offense under ny law? I know you can get a ticket, but sex offense status seems so harsh

Depending on the municipality, yes. In most places that would fall under indecent exposure, which is classified as a sex offense most anywhere.

There's a nude section at Jones Beach in Freeport, LI, where the patrol seems not to bother and a legal, openly nude beach, Gunnison, at Sandy Hook in NJ both about an hour from NYC, if you're looking.
