I was disappointed when he was called out of the office and his PA, a woman, stood in, giving me essentially the same exam as my previous doctor.
Jump forward to this year and my regular doctor gave me my physical. Very old school, including "turn your head and cough" and an on-the-table fully-nude exam and genital check.
And in the same vein (no pun intended) in the last six months I've also had a thorough and immodest testicular ultrasound where one young tech ran the test, then called in her slightly older female boss, who reperformed the exam with both of them present. A few jokes aside with the older woman, it was completely professional.
And then seeing a specialist (older man) who did a very thorough examination of my testicles in particular, holding my cock up to one side as he did so.
So, it seems female Primary Care physicians and PAs, specifically, have some sort of inhibition about it.
I've concluded that the newer generation of doctors are somehow taught things that might be too conservative when it comes to examining patients. It's possible the current atmosphere rife with accusations of impropriety is responsible, or perhaps they are actually being taught to "respect" a patient's modesty.
I don't know but, to me, it's counterproductive.

I'm not quite sure how to deal with physical examinations.
Right now I'm having a problem with overactive bladder. If the recently prescribed medication does not do the job, it will be necessary to insert a probe through my penis to examine the inside of my bladder visually. I may have real difficulty dealing with that.
Another problem I have to deal with more frequently is the tendency of some medical personnel to assume that everyone my age (I am now 81) is feeble, helpless, and incompetent. Recently I had an appointment at a medical complex. The receptionist was in another building. She refused to tell me where the building was, apparently "thinking" that I would be incapable of walking even a very short distance even though I'm more than capable of walking many miles at a brisk pace. Perhaps when she attempted to take my hand I should have crushed it.

I understand that - it's not the most comfortable thing. I've had to have a probe done maybe a half-dozen times over the years (I'm 58). But it's not as bad as it could be if the doctor (or nurse) uses a numbing agent for the first inch or so.
I can also appreciate your frustration with being thought to be frail. My father was a true athlete for most of his life, but did become frail in his last few years. For him it was the opposite of your unhappiness - in his case he was embarrassed that he could not do things for himself. After a lifetime of fitness his body betrayed him.

Call me old school if you want to but I prefer a male physician and only want to wear underwear, no gowns for me I hate them.
