I recently found this video, and it was relatively shocking (in a good way) to see how comfortable these guys are being naked in front of one another: hidden cam - real college wrestlers | Redtube Free Public Porn Videos, Amateur Movies & Gay Clips I was wondering if anyone in college sports can say if this still goes on. This video is from the mid-1990s, and I guess I had assumed that when they learned this kind of stuff was going on (filming in secret), maybe it put an end to the relaxed nudity. Any thoughts?

Guys who wrestle seem to have by far the least modesty. Between those singlets and weigh-in's and the close contact they have when wrestling they let it all hang out. I have a relative who went to state championships and the locker room was definitely a no modesty zone.
I wrestle in High School.
Those weigh-ins right before your match force you to be naked in front of all sorts of clothed people.
If I thought about it I would get to nervous.
I blanked my mind and said to myself it is all part of the sport.

i am a former jock and locker room nudity is (by necessity) a common occurrence. as jockmaestro points out, back in the day male nudity was no big deal at all. my take is that with the sexualization of the male image, straight guys have become more weirded out by the prospect of being naked around other which is a shame. but it's also my experience that this is primarily an american phenomenon. when you go outside of the US, you rarely see guys covering themselves with towels when changing in locker rooms. and yes, that whole towel dance thing is pathetic and absurd.

For me, nudity was always natural from days of skinny-dipping with my friends. Showers with sports teams were required. Many guys were reticent, but coach said, "If I don't see you in the shower, I know you haven't sweat enough. So, the next workout will be harder and your chances of getting off the bench will decrease."

I played basketball in high school and the wrestling season was at the same time. We had a classroom in the boy's locker room area that we used for team meetings, health class, and learning sport rules. The weigh-in scales for wrestling were in front of the room. Someone had the brilliant idea to put 7th period study hall in that classroom. The wrestlers walked in naked even with the room full of girls and boys in study hall. Now that was braver than I've ever got. And none of the wrestlers ask for the scales to be relocated.

For those of us into this stuff, this is not new. I discovered it in the 90's. It's totally illegal but pretty hot. It is inspiring to some of use that guys were this comfortable naked in the locker room, but it's also sad that it's even a topic of discussion. In HS and college in the 70's and early 80's all the guys I knew stripped naked, put on jockstraps for sports, stripped again, showered together, etc It was no big deal; it was, in fact, really rewarding just from a male bonding perspective.
I know there's less of this now because guys are so fuckin paranoid about someone seeing their dicks. Weird... and pussified, frankly. The whole towel dance thing i see some guys do is pathetic.

From today's perspective it sounds really stupid but when i was younger i really seriously feared to be forced to shower with my team or school mates. Due to that i never joined teams like volley ball or soccer even though i would haved loved to play that.

Today i would not hesitate a sec and join such sports teams. I got rid of my fears of being the only cut guy or not the biggest one either... well i tought myself to feel good in saunas or at nude beaches and so today i really love to get nude when others are around and even enjoy when they take a closer look lol... nude life - happy life!

Generally not. Post workout showers are simply for hair and to get the chloromines off.

My swim team did in college, we all took off our suits in the showers. I don't remember anyone who didn't. After practice and meets, the ritual was typically to grab our soap and shampoo from our lockers, go into the shower room, get under a shower head and once the water was warmed up we would peel off our suits. During practices, we would usually wear a speedo along with a drag suit, or one of those drag+speedos combined. If it was after a meet we were usually only in our speedos or legging jammers. But either way, we all got naked in the shower room. I always thought it was important to ring out the chlorine under the shower head and then rinse it off with the fresh water. I would usually do it 2-3 times. It allowed the suit to last much longer, it wouldn't turn that ugly brown color from the chlorine washing out the dye in the suit. If it was after a meet and the shower room was full, if a guy didn't have a shower head, he usually kept his suit on until he got a shower head, at which point he would then do the above.

Thinking a little more about it, I don't remember any rival teams after games keeping their suits on in the showers either if we had invitationals where multiple teams swam. It's been awhile, but I think most of the other teams we competed against also took off their suits in the shower. I actually remember one team after a meet getting naked at their lockers before going into the shower room. They carried their suits in their hand and there were a couple of guys who didn't have access to a shower so they hung around outside the shower room and shared banter naked. I don't think they thought a thing of it. We didn't either.

Nice to see guys comfortable in their own skin, around their sports buddies. My observation from Toronto lockerooms is that the guys are still relatively comfy around other guys when naked. Not too much of the towel dance shit.

What (many) men go through now is not unlikelihood our culture puts women through: the extreme public sexualization of the male body has made many men paranoid about their body, including but not limited to cock size. While all of our bodies are unique and normal at the same time, we tend to compare our dicks to those we've seen in porn, our bodies to soccer stars, and our faces to 20 year old Abercrombie models. That's why many men are uncomfortable with their bodies.

Regarding the video in question: wrestlers are generally, in my experience, very comfortable with their bodies. Why? They have been wearing a skimpy, form fitting singlet for the whole world to see from a young age onward. Similar in that sense to ballet dancers. You just get used to performing in next to nothing for an audience.

I play on a rugby team and this sort of nudity is very common. I don’t think any of us would really give a shit if we were filmed. I’d helicopter for them even!

This was the norm when I was in university, but that was awhile ago. When I last used it a couple of years ago, wrestlers in particular were very relaxed about nudity and hung out naked talking and cracking jokes. It still goes on at my Y today which has a drop your pants at the door mentality. It really depends on the gym you go to. I sought out a gym that still had communal showers because I like that it attracts a more relaxed crowd. There are lots of other gyms in the same city that are mega uptight and extremely prudish.

The TOTALLY INCREDIBLE SHIT IS THIS TODAY:

I swim at a local pool.
A few weeks ago there were signs posted inside the guy's locker room that went like this;
"Adult Men must COVER UP went in the lockerrooms. Mothers have complained that they fear their boy children will be traumatized "

THE FREAKING MOMS DON'T TAKE THE KIDS INTO THE LADIES ROOM WHERE THERE ARE CURTAINS EVERYWHERE...IT'S EASIER TO LET THE KIDS GO BY THEMSELVES.

WTF? If I had a kid, he would never leave my sight or hand.
The moms are socializing together and don't want to take responsibility of their children.

UFB!!

Utter shit. Let a group of MEN try and tell women what they can/can't do in THEIR private space and see how that goes. I would be more naked than necessary and DEMAND someone tell me I can't be. The puritanism and fake outrage continues to get more ridiculous. If your male child is freaked out by an adult penis, stop raising a pussy.

Yesterday a few Rutgers football players used Instagram Live to celebrate their win at Purdue. It was interesting to see some of the layout of the visiting team's locker room in the background. It appears that the showers are almost completely open to the locker room, with only a low wall at one point. Since it was a road game, it means that the coaches were showering with the players as well in that very open environment. It's good to see that these type of configurations still exist and that the players and coaches just get naked and shower as they should.

I went to college during this era and while I wasn't in sports, nudity amongst guys in dorm rooms and bathrooms was a part of everyday life. It was the first time other dudes saw my penis on a regular basis and was an important rite of passage into manhood

My gym is very relaxed as well. There are a lot of German guys where I live because of the businesses that are based here and they are VERY comfortable with nudity.

Some reminiscing:
We heard about videos like this back when I was in college, but don't remember thinking or worrying much about it. I started college in 97.
Best I remember most of the conversation most guys didn't care nor did it immediately affect the way they behaved in the locker room.i think the common reaction was more like "ok someone knows we get naked in the locker room, big deal." I know things differ from area to area and school to school, but even in the late 90's I think most tournaments I atteneded you would see more jockstraps and maybe less nudity on the actual scales. The amount of those guys wearing bikini underwear brings back memories, not so much anyone wearing them in the locker room but they became standard underwear for those of us in my dorm. lighter and thinner with the tighter jeans then and much more sensitive when your gal was rubbing on things. One guy in the video had on a jockstrap and wrestling briefs, didn't see that much. A few guys had those type briefs but most considered them very binding compared to a jock and only a few wore them when we used our lighter colored singlet. I had almost forgot about the way some of the guys used to write their name all the way around the waist of their jockstrap. Even the few regular jock wearers today on my teams don't seem to care if they share jocks. I see them loose in the laundry with no markings regularly. Our equipment guy just sorts them by size and the guys grab one as they need it.
The first guy I saw wearing bikini underwear was in my dorm freshmen year. He gave tighty whitey a new meaning. all his were white and he always showered in them before taking them off and ringing them out. Soon realized this was his way of laundering them. I noticed a tag on them that said Lee Wright was the brand. I found some at the store and thought I would try them. First night I had them on and making out with the girl I was seeing at the time she thought they were awesome compared to regular briefs, she rubbed on them a long time and got my first collge blow job wearing them. jockey was my go to underwear back then and I soon tried the jockey poco briefs and wore them for the rest of college and started seeing the in the locker room as well.

I'm older than most people here. My dad was an Army lifer and I grew up on military bases in US and Europe during the Vietnam years. Army schools, Army gyms, Army hospitals. Communal showers, even communal toilets. (2 rows of five toilets so when you crapped you faced a man looking directly at you. I remember my dad conducting a meeting while taking a shit, his junior officers standing around no big deal. My mother, however, did not like important family discussions taking place while dad crapped.) Army pools did not require trunks during all-male swim hours -- lots of bad jokes from the well-hung that they were at competitive disadvantage during races.

New England prep school and college were more or less the same. Toilet stalls finally had doors. Locker room nudity was no big deal. Or if you thought naked men changing clothes and showering was a big deal, you had outed yourself as a weirdo/freak. Every day for four school years I saw my best friend naked in a team locker room and I have no idea what his cock looks like. For all I know, he's hung like a Ken-doll.

Once I started working in NY and Chicago, I joined several men's clubs known for their discriminatory membership policies and bad food. Again, lots of casual nudity in the locker rooms, showers and pools. One club posted a sign saying clothes were required in the weight room.

So I found this thread curious. I have never seen anything untoward take place in a locker room or shower. (And I have had and continue to have a wild sex life that approximates your average college boy's fantasy life.) Locker rooms, to me, are among the most asexual places I've ever seen. Naked men with guts, surgical scars, old war wounds. Plus a few super-fit men who are often world-class athletes. Yes, younger men are perhaps a bit more prissy about wearing a towel as they walk between locker and shower but I chalk that up to their own issues. Not a generational thing

Or maybe it a cultural thing. Men from English-speaking countries, Germans, Scandinavians and Japanese are usually very casual about nudity. Still, the topic is not one I ever paid attention to. As I said, this is one peculiar thread. Had no idea lots of men here think twice or thrice about letting other men see their dicks in the locker room.
