At least that was the impression I had of the McCain Republican convention.

Who the fuck chants "U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A." at a political rally other than the North American analogy of a NAZI? I can see it at a the 1980's Winter Olympics when our hockey teams wins, but at a political rally? WTF is up with that?

Late comment I know, but I'm still curious and wanting of an explanation.

while i don't care for the republican party, i can hardly equate harmless chants of "USA" at a civilian political convention to tens of thousands of SS Stormtroopers making a giant moving flaming Swastika.

it is a tad different, and not at all reminiscent of Nuremberg

That's kinda what I was thinking, too. I watched both Republican and Democratic conventions but musta missed the night they carried torches.

FWIW, Republicans do nationalism much better, but that's hardly a compliment.
