This has probably been said already but the question is not is the cartoon racist but can it be perceived as racist. The answer is YES it can be perceived as racist. Had the artist had a clear message we would not have this conversation. Instead of the artist hiding, he should be honest and say it was not my attention for this to be mistaken as racist but after reflection I can understand how some may see it as racist and for that I apologize.

Of course not, that's because you are white and clueless just like the guy that did the cartoon.

SAY it sister!!!!!!

They do not live in OUR darn skin..."
They did not grow up being followed in the store. Hell, I still get that....!!
They did not grow up walking past some old White women and she clutches her darn purse like your gonna steal it or grab it.
They do not have to worry about going to diffrent parts of the world and getting talked about straight to their faces in a crazy langauge....
I can go on and on....

Isn't it a bit presumptuous to speak about the message and intent of art you did not create?

Put the shoe on the other foot: if you wanted to use the chimpanzee attack as a means of ridiculing the Stimulus package, how might you have drawn this cartoon?

I would not have used a chimp. I would have "satirized" the stimulus package with someone swallowing viagra and say "It'll work for about three hours."

I would expect someone like you... a person who doesn't use ANY common sense or have any sense of feelings for other people different from yourself to come up with a response like that. Seriously, your responses are more predictable than a Lifetime Movie.

Nope. Just feel sad, as it's Democrats and liberals that are most racist ppl these past few decades (by the literal term). The resorting to it is not only pathetic, but just tired and too often incorrect. They don't realize a lot of rich white ppl (and black ppl) use it for political gain, but in the end, do little or nothing actually about it. Vinyl's comments throughout are just woeful, and I honestly feel bad for him. To have that niave view, as he seems like an thoughtful passionate fella.

And per your comment I've put in bold type... are you serious? That's 99% of this board (including yourself)... so nice try on that card.

P.S. those ears are AWFULLY big, and that head is near-perfectly round... on George Bush that is. So he was fair game over the past 8 years.

First off, Faceking, there's nothing for you to feel bad about so stop with the fake sympathy.

As to what you were originally referring to as my so-called idiotic and angry comments, I'm just speaking what I feel is the truth. It's 2009, not 1909. As I explained many times before on this thread, I find it VERY difficult for any adult (that includes you) to be able to look at this political cartoon and not think that SOMEONE out there would have a problem with it. It uses symbolism that has been used in the past for decades with racial intent. You honestly think a cartoonist, political or not, wouldn't KNOW this? Even my life partner, who is also caucasion, saw the racial implications in that cartoon so I'm not alone in my thinking.

Even if he was just trying to use a current news story to twist into his own political argument, he should have known how this cartoon would have been perceived by some people. In fact, I'm SURE he knew. Cartoonists are not the most "innocent" of people and are very clever at using questionable images to sometimes convey a dissonant message. Just watch any uncensored WWII cartoon from WB or Disney for any verification. Besides that, the symbolism of the chimp and how it could be perceived as being Obama or a black man wasn't my main concern. My main issue is the fact that the cartoon hints that someone had to be shot in order to stop legislation he didn't agree with from being passed. As if the assassination of any political figure is something to laugh or joke about.

Of course, you never noticed I even stated that previously because you're too busy trying to link your opponents to racism so that your own obvious prejudices will appear justified. But good luck looking for evidence of so-called racist Democrats & liberals over the last few decades. And you're calling me the angry one?

Ok, so if the Chimp isn't Obama, like some of you purport, who is it?

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm where were you when the article came out.

There was a chimp attack on a woman that happened that same week. Thusly, the cartoon and reference thereof.. despite the liberal/black agenda to pull the race card at any every turn. Guessing Obama slipping on a banana peel will be off limits as well.

Actually, a picture showing a black man slipping on a banana peel wouldn't offend most people. That's because a banana peel is not a symbol that has been referred to as socially negative or implies anything that is racially biased.

But seriously, Faceking. What is this so-called "black agenda" that is being pushed? Please elaborate. Or to put it in words you understand... open your mouth wide enough so that both feet will fit in this time?
