NYC murder rate declines

    I think it may because all the murderers may be fleeing here to Philly....

    LOL!! I hope that's not the case. Hopefully, Phili will rebound. I'm sure it will. I've always enjoyed visiting that city. It's very historical.

    I'm not sure what there is to discuss. The OP made a statement of a statistic but didn't posit an argument. I'm thrilled the rate is so low as I live close to New York and go in at least once a week, but I'm not sure how it's a subject of debate.

    Jason, if the reverse occurred -- a significant jump in crime -- I think the thread would have taken off w/o any "argument" being presented.

    I think there's minimal interest in good news. The news media dwells on bad news because good news doesn't sell.

    So sad but kind of true. Which is why in a half-hour news program bad news gets 23 mins and good news gets 7, which has to be shared with commercials.

    This thread also may not have been replied to because the vast majority of members don't come from/nor are interested in NYC...
