Don’t you think it’ll be a little gross post-workout, until the showers are open too? I was reading that in NY State they can reopen showers if they’re disinfected between each user, but I doubt NYSC will be willing to do that.

Agreed. They would have to have someone or at least two people there to clean all the time. The sauna/steam rooms would be interesting for awhile.

Gonna try to go to an elite gym sometime this week. Anyone know which location is the best outside of Astor? I know that one is one of the most popular gyms, so for now, I’m gonna try to avoid it.

When you find out let me know. I might be visiting soon, so I need new locations to go to cause that list is very small

NYSC Astor Place and WV (formerly a TMPL) locations have been pretty quiet in the locker rooms. I only see one or two other people in locker room the whole time I'm there.
Was it hard to get in at all with it being restricted to 30%? Did yuo have to queue up?

Not at all. I bet you the usual max capacity is a pretty high number, so a percentage of that is still a lot of people. But it wasn’t very busy the times I went.

I called Astor the other day. They told me max capacity is 300 regularly, but with covid, they can only accept 99/100 people. They also said it’s been very slow aside from the morning of the day they reopened.

I feel like there’s really no use to going now, not just because of cruising, but not being able to shower... that’s annoying in itself. I’ve read that Crunch Gym has their showers open and that there has been cruising going on via the squirt website though. So gyms are probably approved to open showers with guidelines in place but some are just more cautious than others.

Ok so I've been a few times now to 51/Lex.

First of all, the closures make access extremely inconvenient. I have to call them tomorrow to see where we are allowed to go. I have a passport membership but when you take out elite clubs, there's maybe only a few accessible clubs available.

Secondly, the shower area is completely blocked off so don't even think about going in there or sauna. The locker rooms are generally empty. Most people keep their belongings with them or just come ready to workout with the bare minimum. I don't know if or when anybody will have success cruising again. The culture is just completely different now. But I can't lie, as much as I miss the fun aspects, I don't miss seeing gross trolls cruising in the locker rooms and saunas for hours and hours.

yeah, I can’t even begin to explain how much I hate those guys who stay in the sauna and locker room for 3+ hours.... happens so much at 217 Broadway and Remsen. Even 23/8.
