Sad, how poor he and his whole cabinet/advisory team is at knowing how to project the aura of power.
Also sad that he has to get into that game.
But he has to.
And he sho' don't know it.
Surely the most powerful man in the world can hire some good PR reps?

Surely the most powerful man in the world can hire some good PR reps?

An incident his first year showed very clear that the answer to this question in a resounding no.

NYC, he does not promote isolationism. He has no problem creating relations with other countries and trying to bring peace. But why are we involving ourselves in other people's business? We can all agree Saddam was bad. However, who died and said we need to get involved? Like Paul has said, Iraq and Iran are united, for the first time ever, with hating us. Why are we involved in Libya? I am pretty sure Egypt did their thing with no help. Why are we in Yemen? Why do we defend Japan? Why are we in Germany? Why are we in Saudi Arabia? All the hostitlity between us and Iran boils down to an assasination in 1953.

I do not want the goverment deciding civil rights. I have stated numerous times that hate crime laws are unconstitutional. What right does the government have telling a private business who they can and cannot hire? And civil right is so horribly applied. As I said, the government turned down to prosecute one of the biggest slam dunk cases of violations of civil right in US history (Duke lacrosse case). Why? Bad politics to prosecute a case where white males' civil rights were violated.

Paul's positions can be attacked. But I do not see a candidate who can be less attacked on the issues than Ron Paul. If there is one, let me know.

Bachmann is finished... she's had her fifteen minutes I think. In six months or so I'd be very surprised if her campaign were still running. Even as abysmal as I think her chances are I think the White House would be more inclined to act in preparation for a head to head with Bachmann than they would be to do so for Ron Paul.

That's... me speaking on behalf of the majority opinion.

Like always, Paul supporters fail to differentiate between bad foreign policy (Iraq) and good foreign policy. Being in Germany and Japan is a symptom of an overblown defense budget and being spread out in wars. BUT, we did rebuild Europe, and unlike the Soviets, enabled Germany to regain dignity in Europe.

We're in Libya because we have the support of much of the world. It was a situation in which we could help, and we saved the lives of an entire half of a country. In the end, Qaddafi is losing, or lost, power, and the Arab Spring keeps the momentum alive. Syrians can take note. Egypt and Tunisia can keep their efforts going (and the idea that Egypt didn't have any help is a gross simplification - if this happened under Bush, lord knows what we would have done. Just look at how Fox News reacted to Obama's call for Mubarak to step down).

I agree we should promote peace, but sometimes enforcing a no-fly zone is the best way to do that. Libya promoted peace. And you and Paul once again oversimplify the fact that Iraqis and Iranians are united in their hatred against us. Iraq and Iran are both very complex nations, one of which we destroyed because of bad foreign policy, and the other we have no idea how they feel because the people are suppressed.

The biggest problem facing us and the world is that we based our foreign policy for years over fear of some stupid domino effect. That's why we supported all these horrible dictators. Now, when there's an opportunity to help people fighting for freedom and a more peaceful world, we should help if we can.
