Damn. Cons just seem to jump from one racist idea to the next....

New racist "graffiti art"... trying to pose as "Social Protest" or something.

Barack Obama Joker socialism poster denounced as racist

A poster depicting President Barack Obama as Heath Ledger's "Joker" character from "The Dark Knight" has sparked controversy after it appeared on the streets of Los Angeles.

And, yes, already the internet is full of sites selling the shit. Probably marketed to the same people who bought the "Where's the Birth Certificate?" yard signs.

Conservative Michael Medved says he can trace the "Birther" movement to a neo-Nazi group, begun last year. Will have to check that out.

Please note in the 2nd link provided (Obama Socialism...) that the guy modeling the Obama outerwear IS AFRICAN-AMERICAN ---- a clever ploy, as if this will somehow negate or neutralize the inherent racism of the backward minstrel image.

it would appear that anything critical of Obama would be dismissed (or attempted to be dismissed, regardless of any merit) as "racist"

one simply has to review the libs' postings on this board as an example

displays as much as anything the danger the left poses to free thought and discussion

interesting...

so when Bush was put in "the Joker" makeup it was all fun and games, but now that it is Obama, it is offensive?

http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/Drew Friedman George Bush as Joker.jpg

Spare me the absurdity.

he is not in "whiteface", he is "The Joker"

when Bush was made up by the left to like Hitler, that was just sort of amusing, but this is over the line?

what would have been acceptable?

anyone has any right they want to make fun of Obama if they disagree with him.

I suggest you google "Bush as Hitler"

then get back to me

Well. Big decision coming up. What's a leftie to do when he sees something he wants to suppress? Instant screeches of "racism" are starting to lose that ol' cutting edge, aren't they, since O. screwed the pooch with Gatesgate and let his inner racist out of the closet for us all to admire on national TV. Now that he's the Racist-in-Chief I suppose we (or at least the press) can decide that racism ain't that bad after all. (I disagree, but we can all vote on it; of such follies are republics made.)

So some other knee-jerk smear is needed, pronto. Neo-nazi? That might be good. Nobody has any idea what it means, but it sounds plenty bad, making it the ideal battle-cry for the militantly unreflective.

Of course, the fact that nobody knows just who came up with (and has been pasting up) the Jokerposters need not be an impediment to making the usual baseless smears of those evil cons. "Corporal, round up the usual suspects ..." We all pine for the days of Executive Order 9066 ... or do we?

Exactly... Willtom.. you are OFFICIALLY an idiot... pulling the race card out on this. Actually. Typical. Pathetic.

the Joker wore the white makeup. Is this what ya'll are resorting to... 3 years of "the race card" when your boy may be one of the biggest racists himself... yawn.

interesting...

If you are 50% Caucasian what would be wrong with white face? Sounds like racism, being one drop of black blood makes him black when in truth he is multiracial. You can't have it both ways if you hate him for his black just say so, stop hiding behind something you are trying to makeup.

Good point.. if Obama at 50% African American is the first black president, is he not at 50% Caucasian also the 42nd white president???!!!

When will we actually stop putting whitey in office?

Whether it's Bush or Obama, class-warfare, or racism, this "Jokerazation" is ugly stuff. And the commercialization even nastier.

Right up there with the Joker shirts, is the t-shirt (also for sale) on WND which states "I'd rather be waterboarding a terrorist." If only all terrorists came with labels on their forehead, it would make it so much easier. We'd probably have found Bin Laden with that kinda clue.

Not only are these reactionaries, as I can't even call them conservatives, ugly in their opposition, apparently they are also really cheap; no real surprise there. Here's a tidbit from WND on how the dedicated "Obama-razer" Parker Shannon, despite being "a real patriot," had to hang up his keyboard. He may have made more $$ peddling his blog as fiction...

Vanished: Obama exposer disappears off Net

Lastly here's an excerpt from today's WSJ review of the new book "In Praise of Doubt," which is on topic here, and anywhere absolutism, hiding as ridicule, runs amok. Here's the relevant passage:

But what happens if we are faced with too many choices? Messrs. Berger and Zijderveld argue that when too much of a person’s sense of himself is chosen, rather than given, he suffers the sort of social dislocation that Durkheim called “anomie.” The danger of this condition is that it makes individuals more susceptible to absolutist doctrines—both religious and political—that offer a secure and uncompromised identity.

All of these cries of Socialism are orchestrated by the republicans acting in the Corporation's best interest.

I predict it will get worse as Healthcare reform with a strong public option tries to pass Congress.

The Health Insurance industry is spend $1.4 Million each day lobbying against reform. Instead they offer promises that "We will make sure everyone is covered and we'll control costs"... Too bad that is exactly what they said in 1993, the last time they killed reform.

Now we are expected to believe them again and hope they do something differently? The same companies who retro-actively deny health claims and sue sick people because they discover a technicality, usually in pre-condition clauses. The same companies that pay their CEO's in 2008 millions of dollars (Aetna, paid their CEO $24,000,000 in 2008).

They also promote fear of how horrible government run healthcare would be. Every member of Congress... their insurance *is* a government run system... and everyone agrees it's a great system. Medicaid is government run healthcare and my grandmother treasured it. The Veteran's Administration is government run healthcare and has very high satisfaction ratings as compared to private insurance companies.

We need to stop the insane concept that one part of society should obscenely profit from the sickness of others.

Everything else is a distraction (including this stupid Obamajoker) and focuses the debate on stupid proxies for the real discussion.

actually, it's the large health insurercorporations who are actively pushing for the Obama health plan

part and parcel of the Dem Party's and Obama's refashioning of the American polity along the lines of a corporate (i.e., fascist) state

as an aside, query to libs: why so upset over the national intelligence agencies merely listening or reviewing your international communications, yet you push for the expanded government to maintain your health files?

Damn, and I used to think you had some resemblance of a mind. You ruined it for me.

Nah... all he does is use a thesaurus. Anyone can type "See Spot Run" and make it say "Visualize the ceaseless canine".

Some of the people on this thread who are trying to dismiss this are making such asinine comments. Watching them try to point out something as racist or not is equally insulting.

The re-imaging of Obama as "The Joker" does have its racial overtones. That doesn't mean that you're not supposed to like it as everyone here likes a good racial joke once in a while. However, let's not ignore the obvious just so you can hold your criticisms of the president. The joke in this case, sucked. I mean, how many times can you paint the man as a socialist?

I think there's a big difference between
1) actively listening to every word I say on the phone and
2) keeping encrypted copies of medical files that can only be read by medical professionals, with huge penalties for inappropriate access.

The point being made in the poster must have gone over my head. What does the Joker have to do with socialism?

Wow... after I stopped laughing... Please show me one health insurance company that has signed up for a strong public option for health care (i.e., Obama's socialism). Let alone "actively pushing".

They are spending $1.4 Million per day just lobbying Congress to try to kill it.

The point being made in the poster must have gone over my head. What does the Joker have to do with socialism?

He doesn't. The artist is obviously trying to portray Obama as a psychotic madman, hence the use of the Joker. Unfortunately for the artist, the Joker was also very intelligent and was able to think many steps ahead of his opponents.

Guess he didn't see "The Dark Knight". :biggrin1:
