LOL! The baby cannot handle a few questions ...

Orlando Sentinel - Obama campaign cuts off WFTV after interview with Joe Biden by Hal Boedeker

WFTV-Channel 9's Barbara West conducted a satellite interview with Sen. Joe Biden on Thursday. A friend says it's some of the best entertainment he's seen recently. What do you think?

West wondered about Sen. Barack Obama's comment, to Joe the Plumber, about spreading the wealth. She quoted Karl Marx and asked how Obama isn't being a Marxist with the "spreading the wealth" comment.

"Are you joking?" said Biden, who is Obama's running mate. "No," West said.

West later asked Biden about his comments that Obama could be tested early on as president. She wondered if the Delaware senator was saying America's days as the world's leading power were over.

"I don't know who's writing your questions," Biden shot back.

Biden so disliked West's line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate's wife.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

McGinnis said the Biden cancellation was "a result of her husband's experience yesterday during the satellite interview with Barbara West."

Here's a link to the interview:

Video.

WFTV news director Bob Jordan said, "When you get a shot to ask these candidates, you want to make the most of it. They usually give you five minutes."

Jordan said political campaigns in general pick and choose the stations they like. And stations often pose softball questions during the satellite interviews.

"Mr. Biden didn't like the questions," Jordan said. "We choose not to ask softball questions."

Jordan added, "I'm crying foul on this one."

I hope folks will watch that video. Barbara West could have asked about issues that directly affect folks in the Orlando viewing area -- like, "How will the economic meltdown affect tourism in Southern Florida?", or "Florida's seen its share of hurricane damage over the years. What would FEMA look like in an Obama-Biden administration?" Those aren't "softball questions" -- they're original, pertinent, and relevant.

She asked no question pertinent to Florida. Instead, the order of questions was: Acorn, Marxist, Sweden.

Fine, she sandbagged him, but her viewers learned nothing new.

Why did he get owned? Getting asked hostile questions doesn't mean he loses the interview. He answered each one very well.

Sure she could have asked those questions or others like if he has ingrown toenails that affect his judgment but Biden is running for Vice President of the United States, not City Councilman of Orlando. Asking questions strictly about Central Florida is a nothing issue to even bring up let alone as remotely newsworthy as the hard questions she did ask.

No matter. The SS Republican Party is going down to the bottom of the North Atlantic. 2006 was just a precursor to Election 2008.

Jeez. You're drinking Kool-aid like it's Jonestown.

What exactly is newsworthy about a question like, "Is Barack Obama a Marxist?" Newsflash: Biden's going to say no to a question like that. The question doesn't elicit any useful content. Even if every voter in her viewing audience reallllllllly wanted to know if Obama was a Marxist, nobody would ask his running mate.

Do you even believe your own spin at this point?

Of course they would ask his running mate! He is running on the same platform!

And spin? That’s not me pretending it would only be correct for a reporter to ask nothing local questions to a candidate running for national office.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Let's try this little exercise. Here's a yes-or-no question. Do you know in advance what answer Sarah Palin would give?

Governor Palin, is John McCain a terrorist?

If the answer is a foregone conclusion, then there was no point in asking the question. It's precisely because Joe Biden is on the same ticket that asking such inflammatory questions is absurdist journalism.

I'd say someone got owned here, but your name isn't Biden.

You love pretend to try selling your spin but sorry, pretend doesn’t work here.

Asking a question can have many results and an interviewer’s job is asking questions pertinent to the subject which of course was regarding the platform he is running on.

Take note this is not the first time in history an interviewer has asked a vice presidential candidate about his or her leader’s ambitions and/or views and please refrain any further from pretending there is anything wrong with it.

You used the word 'pretending' twice here. Project much?
