I think it only proves on thing...Americans have had enough of trickle down economics were the tinkle has essentially evaporated after it leaves the upper class.

I saw this too and was completely blown away by the total amount raised, and how it was almost triple what had come in the previous month.

Many have said that unless Obama is up by 10% on election day, he won't make it, but this serious flow of cash maybe an early indicator he'll close the deal.

This maybe the first billion dollar presidential election.

So do you find that as a:

Fantastic show of support?

and/or

Buying the election?

I know in my heart and head that if it was McCain or Hillary raising the money, we'd be seeing a lot of the latter. But since it's the media darling, the "fundraising feat is remarkable".... not the fact that it's all for running advertising.

Shattering records like it's Michael Phelps, not even mentioning he backpeddled on the public funding nod, but just remember the "glee" many seem to have over Obama's fundraising, when the Republican candidate in 2012, "breaks the record".

Yep sure do. But facts never seem to phase her one bit like her comrades she left behind.

Not much different than babies thawere dropped and fell through the floor. Except they became Conservative Republicans. :biggrin1:

there's a number of sayings that refer to being a lib when you are young, then when you finally grow up you become a con... oddly enough... you are a 35 yr old man whose nickname has Boy in it.

just sayin'

given the absolutely record shattering number of donors i'm going to go with 'fantastic show of support'. At best you could say the American people at large are buying the elections, which is kind of the point.

It's because they are shallow and don't like to read. To have your opinion of a candidate swayed by a political ad is tragic.

$150M in a month. A potential billion dollar campaign, it's a fantastic amount of money, and it's disgusting.

It doesn't matter if it's Barrack in Oct. of '08, or Sarah (God forbid) in '12 who breaks the record, cause that "record" will fall again. The real message is not who's getting the money, although it's very relevant to every race, the real message is that in America every political office is up for sale; and the price keeps going up even after they've taken office. When will it stop? Or have we become such consumers as a nation that we view spending money as being equal to freedom of speech?

One may argue that it's better that Barrack has done so with small, individual donations of $100 (which does make it more remarkable), rather than large corporate party money, but no one should be surprised that America has lost it's political way, and become old world style corrupt, whichever party you support, when money is paramount in all phases of politics.

Personally, I'd rather have public financing for all campaigns. Let them duke it out on the merits of their positions, judgement, and temperament. Given the plethora of media, and two year presidential campaigns, there is no way anyone who wants to know more about a candidate, will not.

Doesn't that prove the opposite of what is being said? The people with money are supporting Obama.

Right now most people are worried about losing their home, job, or retirement; who has the money to donate to Obama? The rich folks.

Trickle Down is dead? How does Obama raising money prove anything about trickle down economics? The guys says he's a socialist but we wont know till he gets there. Remember Justice Kennedy? Supposedly conservative, then he gets put on the court and loses all sense. Obama doesn't have a track record, so he might be a far-left-nut-job-liberal, he might be a center-liberal; all we've got is HOPE.

Are Americans so moronic they don't even know what socialism is?

socialism - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state

3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Please direct me to where any democrat is proposing the above? We know Bush has already done it with banking. So no BULLSHIT about Obama being socialist. It's another term dreamed up by Republican political strategists that have no basis in reality. They know people are too stupid to know the meaning of the word other that's it's baaaaddd and are too lazy to take them to task.
