Funny how they're more concerned about the health of the unborn than they are about what happens after birth, isn't it? All sounds rather hypocritical to me.

Sure, pal. And I want the right to run red lights and not pay taxes.

How do you choose which words to capitalize and/or italicize. It seems as though you're trying to do to those functions what AtomicMouse has done to commas.

From my vantage point, you're doing to them what Leo did to "old sport" in Gatsby. That is, to say, you're running them into the fucking ground.

Single Payer Healthcare and you:

The term "single payer" is only a description of payment method and does not specify terms and conditions of delivery. A single payer healthcare system is defined only as a governing body utilizing tax funds to pay for medical needs of it's public. Contracts can be brokered with the government through private health insurers (such as Humana, bluecross blueshield, or Aetna) as well as a program run by the government itself (such as medicare or medicaid).

A single payer system simply means that anyone with a social security number gets a health insurance plan paid for with a portion of taxes collected. It also means that the insurance provider will be negotiating prices with economists and medical professionals instead of Joe the Plumber who can get you a great deal on some J-Pipe, but understands little to nothing about the healthcare industry much less what he should be paying for a quality health insurance policy.

Single Payer does not automatically equal medicare/medicaid for all.

PS: Hear me my fellow political junkie friends. Stop listening to Sean Hannity and Ed Shcultz and their ilk for your political opinions. They are not looking out for you, they are pushing a political agenda and trying to drive up the number of their twitter followers and facebook "likes". Dig into this stuff yourself. If you don't understand it, ask someone to go through it with you.

As are you.

Oh sure. After you're born they could care less about you. And I mean care less. Don't expect anything from them. This is the point were government can step aside after it's been all up in the mother's uterus.

Missing a few letters and at least one apostrophe there.

I figure correcting an honest mistake is as good a response as this propagandist drivel deserves.

I agree with this and think this a good working definition for Single payer. I was using the term the same way it most often used, by equating it to Medicare for all. As you pointed out, it doesn't just mean that but can apply to other delivery systems for healthcare.

As I stated earlier, I am pro-life and pro universal coverage for healthcare. Sorry if that doesn't fit onto your convenient stereotype list.

Haha! Indeed it is no accident that federal bureaucrats live longer, but it may be for more plebeian reasons...:biggrin1:

nope... its because of the healthcare.

This is not just the elected officials... but the higher paid permanent employees of the federal gov who get the best healthcare on earth... and most of it at taxpayer expense.

Run all the red lights you want. I am all for it. Darwin at work. In fact, I encourage it. I am certain you will not be stopped until you hit someone. And if society becomes as lawless as you suggest, maybe the person you hit will make sure you never run another red light.

PUH-LEEESE... let's not get "STOOPID".

My comment about not paying taxes and running red lights was clearly (clear to most at least) a facetious bit of commentary which in fact was intended to suggest exactly the opposite. (Ziiiiiiingggggggggg!)

Red lights exist for a reason. So do taxes and the individual mandate. A society which adopts something like universal healthcare (granted the ACA is not exactly the same) must insure the full participation of all citizens in order for it to work as intended. The British and other societies do so via a TAX. If you were there, you wouldn't be saying you believe you should have the "choice" of not paying, would you?? Well, maybe YOU would.

Your comment about "ancestry" suggests that you THINK you'll never need health insurance, and therefore you'd prefer to "take your chances" and have the "choice" of not complying with the law.

Sounds to me like you want to "run some red lights" yourself, eh?

Was just clearifying some of the preconceptions about the idea of a single payer system.

Really? Yet you wanted Romney to win who ran on a platform of repealing and replacing ACA (with nothing). You speak with forked tongue.

Yes well, you know how close you came to having the medical care of the Nazis......( insert Maxwell smart...this much )

Nup, curcumcised..........Off to the chambers. You are not like us.

Stop whinging about humans caring for other humans. Cause you know what, the alternatives are shit.

They are shit enough in a democratic society. Imagine what they would be like in a Democratic Capitalistic Dictatorship? With guys like Donald Trump and Murdoch in charge. Then who would you bitch too? No-one, because the media would be theirs and anyone who would oppose would be automatically under suspicion. The internet would be under their control.

Sigh . . . it's getting to the point where I can't tell if the trolls really believe what they're saying.
