We're so glad The Dear Leader will get far more under his dummy Bronze Plan than the hapless Obamacare victims desperate to enjoy the benefits of their "sub-par" plan until the bitter end tomorrow.

Patients cram in tests before Obamacare starts- MSN Money

Aside from the media court eunuchs, knee-jerk "progressive" academics and welfare addicts, who are the 35% of Americans who still approve of that ACA monstrosity?

Government Health Programs Save Everyone Money: Study
Government Health Programs Save Everyone Money: Study

From the first paragraph of the article:
More and more it seems that, when the government subsidizes health insurance, patients' share of health care costs go down.

What a fucking genius....

I hope that everyone realizes that ANY program that gets subsidies from somewhere else will cost the end user less.... It's like getting a match from your employer for a 401-k. It's not as if the total cost is going down, it's just that the cost for the end user is going down. Someone else is still going to pay...

This is written like it should be in Pravda....

The sovereign pays. It reduces the cost to the private sector AND adds to net private sector income.

It's a win win.

Your hope is ambitious.

More likely, the fossilized left's "thinking" is that subsidies will be paid by Krugman's magic Trillion Dollar Coin.

Another popular hard left myth is that the combined wealth of the top 1%, when rightfully confiscated, would be sufficient to:

1. Raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour.
2. Pay for FREE preschool, college and graduate school FOR ALL, regardless of effectiveness or desirability.
3. Close the federal, state and local deficits.
4. Pay off the nation's $17 trillion and counting public debt.
5. Plug the $75-$100 trillion Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security/Obamacare unfunded liabilities.
6. Extend massive government services and benefits to millions of mostly illiterate, mostly unskilled immigrants likely to contribute little to the tax base.

Setting rhetoric aside, over the past few decades the wealth and income disparity in this country has grown to a nearly unprecedented level.

1. Do you acknowledge this as a problem?
2. If so, how would you address it?

No...and I find this discussion so deliciously amusing on a site devoted to / obsessed with maximum inequality in penile metrics.

I am still a believer in equal opportunities for all, but that should go without saying.

If you somehow equate the two conversations, I suppose it is amusing.

As am I. Let us hope that, someday, we attain this ideal.

Equal opportunity does not translate to equal outcome. Some succeed. Some fail. Some do not succeed because they don't try. Others do not succeed because they tried and failed. Some will have better opportunities based on the fact they succeeded before, and have more to work with. Should they be punished?

If you believe in equal opportunity then you need to accept unequal outcomes. But then it's the chicken or the egg.

Since we are not all alike, we cannot have equal outcomes. What is so difficult to understand? I've stated elsewhere on this forum that the middle class gets screwed all the time. The poor don't pay into the system. The rich have the means to pay into the system, but the middle class never gets ahead because the demands put on them by the system make it financially difficult -- not poor enough for subsidies, but not rich enough not to impact their well being. Unless you save more than you make, you'll never get to the upper class.

Lets face it, some people are better at things than others. Some may not be better, but just more motivated.

Shall we reset wealth every New Year's Day so that everyone has an equal opportunity? I don't want to see people with large penises required to get penis reduction surgery because the distribution of penis length was not equal.

Happy New Year everyone, btw....

Do you really believe all that?

Btw Krugman didn't start the idea of the HVPC. He rubbished the idea at first.

Also, the net federal 'debt' is nowhere near $17 trillion and it never has to be 'paid off' like a private sector debt.
